For someone who comes from a creative background & with the most hectic schedule what better could one suggest other than to come back to a peaceful haven. Shakti Mohan’s Mumbai home is a minimalist sanctuary, rifled on boho chic. She is super creative herself, talented, well travelled & a power house wanted something which she could call her own. She wanted the designer, Ayush Bagzai, to create something zen where she could energize and restore.

It all started with strategically decoding and unwrapping the partial load bearing building structure walls in order to unite the carpet area and carve out spaces as per client’s requirement. Sowing the seeds of fresh contemporary style of interior in an early 80’s old residential settlement was a blend of challenge and opportunity. The treatment for the house was planned to be subtle with minimal wall treatment. Every wall surface was just planned to be a canvas wall, artwork, and artifacts display.

We received a very artistic brief for A 900 sq.ft carpet area, situated in the heart of Mumbai Maharashtra in Rivali park Borivali, to create a cozy home with a renaissance feel and modern touch, an abode with an inviting appeal. So we took Victorian design style roots as our base with which we merged Rustic and finally tossed with a youthful eye-catching and fresh color scheme.

Our project in Hyderabad, has keen attention to functionality and has utmost space optimization. Aesthetic and welcoming, this 1000 sq.ft apartment truly reflects the tastes of its residents. When we first visited the site, it was an unorganized mess. We could clearly understand our client’s urgent need to renovate this 20 year old apartment. Their brief was simple – It is a small space for a family of 3, but each space should double up in its functionality to meet all their requirements as a family without compromising on aesthetics.

The Joshi’s House manifests minimalistic and contemporary earmarks of the interior. This house is refurbished at the Jamnagar city with exquisite choice of materials and colour palette. The main concern of the client was that it should be minimal yet sumptuous and classic interior design. In order to achieve minimal and elegant look, the major material preference by us were polished finished surfaces such as veneer, glossy laminate, marble with warm welcoming colours.

Residential renovations, while a joy to work on, can also be quite tricky; especially if the clients still inhabit the home, it is crucial to complete the project from contemporary design concept to execution in a quicker time frame so as to not inconvenience them for a long time. In this project, the very first decision taken was to segregate the main areas of the home giving each area its own identity but in a way that they all tie together as one.

Use of clean lines and geometric shapes in furniture has been used to add aesthetic appeal.

Functional, detail-oriented and minimal Mumbai home. These are the words that highlight the personality of this impeccably designed abode by Studio-Arch. R Project : it’s a deception of how combinations of pastel colours give a complete chic and contemporary look to the home. This interior is designed in a way that makes it into both an opulent and cosy home. Making this home in the short amount of time was enjoyable as well as demanding because each area has been painstakingly designed to compliment the others. The most enjoyable and difficult part of implementing some of our design elements was the partition area, but we stuck with the design because we and the client were very impressed with the details and the partition! We had a 3-month time limit, and throughout that time we faced numerous hurdles. We and our execution team were certain that we could get beyond any obstacles.

Bathed in subtle sophistication, the living room is a beautifully designed space with exquisite contemporary interiors. Living rooms are used by everyone in the household. Therefore, this space had to be multi-purpose and functional above everything else, creating a harmony between space and decor. This space has ample seating, an entertainment unit and a dining table placed cohesively. It has all the essential elements in it without having a clustered look. Hence, minimalism is key here.

This contemporary design ideology was to amalgamate as set of materials to place it where it suits the best with permutations & combinations on the solid surfaces and loose elements. Exploring the material with its different finishes to maintain the language and uniformity was at utmost priority. The whole experience of playing with the material in a controlled manner helps the outcome much better than experimenting with different materials in each space.

Clean lines and uncluttered monochromatic concepts immediately came to mind. I wanted to create a mid century modern home soothing and inviting space by keeping simple forms, timeless mouldings and neutral colour. Minimalism and functionality go hand in hand, for example by creating bay windows in all three bedrooms not only allowed additional light to enter the space but also create a window seat to enjoy the nice view of the outdoors with a relaxing reading nook.
