“Submerged in the layers of monotonous physicality, the dwelling instantly transports you to an unchaotic and idyllic headspace.”- Nishal Sevak(Co-Editor)
For someone who comes from a creative background & with the most hectic schedule what better could one suggest other than to come back to a peaceful haven. Shakti Mohan’s Mumbai home is a minimalist sanctuary, rifled on boho chic. She is super creative herself, talented, well travelled & a power house wanted something which she could call her own. She wanted the designer, Ayush Bagzai, to create something zen where she could energize and restore.

The living room is steeped in soft greys and light wood tones. Raw finishes add an unfussy edge to the presiding white palette. A table from The Grand Trunk takes centre stage, while sofas from Relax Studio square off the room.
The curtains and flooring are from The Home Label, while the rug is a Weavers find. Hardware from The Glitorium Home lends a sheen to the muted aesthetic, as does the bronze chandelier from S2B2 Lighting Solutions.
In the living room of Shakti Mohan’s Mumbai home, a light oak trunk masquerades as a coffee table, while dainty island-inspired tables hark to the nearby seafront.
Old-world bronze accents glint here and there, while warm wooden flooring serves as a welcome foil for the abiding whiteness.
The dining room flows out of the living area in one fluid sweep. The table is from The Pure Concept Home, while the wall textures are from Mecasa. The mirror is a design by The Grand Trunk.
What got the designer going for this project was keeping it simple & real but not just that, it had to be accompanied by crisp details, a good amount of minimalism & keeping the palette warm & neutral. Softer Greys , lighter woods , & the magical white was the design language that I was bent towards, for Shakti Mohan’s new Mumbai home.
Hushed hues and bronze pendants and sconces from S2B2 Lighting Solutions add a touch of sparkle to the client’s bedroom. Sheer curtains from The Home Label romance the sunlight, delivering a shifting tapestry of light and shadow through the day.
The upholstery is from The Pure Concept Home, while the flooring is from The Home Label. The Glitorium Home was the store of choice for the hardware. The cushions are from Flaw Designs.
This is to say nothing of the guest bedroom, where floral wallpaper goes against the grain by serving as the only exception to the all-white, all-light rulebook.
Effortless white sheers , lots of day light & the wonders that potted plants create added to the 50 shades of neutrals. Pastels, self textures, raw finishes, lights with a heritage touch, textiles & rugs woven & collaborated specially for this project with specialized brands helped us to complete our vision but above all the the warmest smile on the final day of handover was the most rewarding part of the project.
