Epitomizing India modern, where natural stone, timber, Indian artefacts and other ethnic elements co-exist amicably in this family home. “The client’s expectations were quite clear from the outset,” reveals architect Ajay Singh of ‘Design Centre’. “On a broader level, he certainly wanted the design elements to be derivatives of traditional and cultural roots, and yet speak a contemporary vocabulary.”
Ethnic Elements Co-Exist Amicably In This Family Home | Design Centre

The design team, first froze the designing and material palette. Gradually, they approached the Indian artefacts, motifs synonymous with native ethnicity, and furniture pieces with modern forms and traditional details.
The desire for being surrounded by nature translated into the use of natural stone — which became a statement material for this project.
Indian granite has been used for cladding, while white and grey Italian marble sprawls on the floor. Solid wood for cladding and furniture, black granite for table tops, traditional moldings for lobby walls and brass for ornamentation complete the main palette.
Linen, cotton, and genuine leather feature as upholstery and soft furnishings. Refined is one of the best adjectives to describe the gorgeous chandelier in the living room.
The bedrooms became personal spaces for each user and were requested to be designed differently from one another.
The wall lights in the corridor, lamps and shades in the rooms are a perfect combination of elegance and sophistication.
