There is a moment, standing beneath the triple-height volume of this Bengaluru home, when the retractable sunroof slides open and the sky simply becomes part of the room — and everything this space set out to achieve suddenly makes complete, irreducible sense. Crafted by Deena Rodrigues & Nicole David for a multigenerational family, and executed across 5,000 square feet by Swati Panda of Inspacio Design Studio, this split-level residence moves between moods the way a well-composed piece of music does: a sculptural puja unit that masquerades as partition, a basement office lined in fabric panelling, a terrace bar hovering above the home’s interior landscape.

The palette is muted — beige, olive, grey — but the conviction is anything but. Refreshing accents of orange and green surface throughout like unexpected asides: vibrant enough to animate the neutrals, restrained enough never to destabilise them. Black-and-white stripes recur through select furniture pieces, introducing graphic energy into rooms that keep the interior from settling into complacency.
Each room holds its own distinct temperament, yet the whole moves together with assurance. Motorised blinds, automated curtains, and a karaoke-equipped family lounge on the first floor speak to a household that values comfort as much as composition.
In the living area, a concrete panel climbs toward the skylight, profile lighting tracing its edges as the triple-height volume earns every inch of its drama. Below, a recliner and an organic rug hold their ground without diminishing the scale. With a marble dining table, suede chairs on golden legs, a bar cabinet with wine storage alongside — the opulent dining zone signals, without announcement, a household that takes hospitality seriously.
Champagne-toned acrylic cabinetry and a grey quartz island give the kitchen its particular precision. “The lighting had to do a lot of work here,” recalls Swati. “Each space needed its own quality of light, and its own character.” It shows: every fixture across every floor was chosen for its specific moment rather than its general utility.
Staircase landings on every floor carry consoles with AV installation artworks, while expansive glass windows bring the garden and the sky inside. The upper floors calibrate their moods to their inhabitants. Beige and grooved, the master bedroom absorbs a floating writing table into its storage unit; beyond it, a terrace bar in green quartz with embedded lights opens to the canopy and city below.
Warmer in register, the parents’ bedroom arrives in olive green, antique wall lights, and a writing table that converts to a desk — a room fashioned for a different pace of life entirely. Positioned near the foyer, the guest bedroom introduces richer textures through a Chesterfield bed and textured painted walls.
The basement holds the father’s office, its fabric-panelled walls and marble table producing a subterranean calm that the floors above deliberately contrast.
“Execution was difficult,” Swati reflects, “but deeply gratifying. When a space of this scale comes together as a single, coherent experience — that’s the reward.”
