    1.

THE HEART OF THE HOUSE IS THE DOUBLE HEIGHT COURTYARD | NEOGENESIS+STUDI0261

The project aims at creating an economically modest built form for an agriculturist and his family. Abstraction of urban farming could be seen in both exterior and interior spaces. The design uses the natural light and the built form to its advantage. The site abuts access way on the south and other two sides by adjoining structures. Its location is peculiar as the site is located on the city fringes.

    SKEWED HOUSE | STUDIO LAGOM

An interesting book, an engaging thought, a flight of fantasy or nothingness… A private sanctuary that is the garden at Skewed House. Solitude in the midst of golden-hearted Champa blossoms; unwinding to the tune of the wind chime.

Material shifts and elevational modulation establishes the programmatic changes within the Skewed House. A nine-foot exposed concrete cantilever marks the master bedroom, a strategic communication about family hierarchy. Similarly, an L-shaped glass inset reveals the internal free standing Pooja tower, reiterating the significance of spirituality.

    H-CUBE HOUSE | STUDIO LAGOM

The H-Cube House in Surat strikes a contemporary and modern note in a nondescript urban milieu. Bagged with the help of positive word of mouth, this assignment came almost immediately on the heels of a larger villa project that was more than 10 times the scale of the present project. And that was precisely what was attractive and challenging: its compact size. The site was a 35’ x 35’ corner property in a densely populated community of urban Surat. The square dimension meant the absence of a long axis that could have otherwise been used as a base for spatial articulation. The exercise thus became centred around as much creating a good space as proving to ourselves that we had the capability of surmounting the challenges posed by a small scale and its detailing.

SVASTI – THE BANYAN TREE | ESSTEAM

    ESSTEAM

Having worked on nearly 500 design projects in the last fifteen years as a principal, nothing can be more challenging than designing a villa for self. So many ideas, so many possibilities and so many aspirations! All of this comes down to the vision that we as an architect couple created for our own house, ‘A dwelling that exhibits a mature restraint in cutting out all that is unnecessary, and welcoming all that is right and aligned to the principles of nature’.

A MODERN TREE HOUSE – CUBE SQUARE | COLLAGE STUDIO

‘’Prasanna House is illustrative, where a dense urban context has been transformed into an intimate and tranquil living space. Trees, leaves and nature are the essences of the project, bringing it to life.’’

The clients being simple and deep-rooted were looking to have a home that resonated tranquillity and was an escape from the hustle bustle of the city life. The house needed to be well ventilated with ample daylight throughout the day.

The proposed site is located at a T-junction of a prime residential area surrounded by built spaces, facing an agricultural institute just a stone’s throw away. The design was hence conceptualised on capturing and framing this view.

HOUSE IS AN EXPRESSION IN DHRANGADHRA STONE | SPASM

This is a private home in Ahmedabad, is an expression in Dhrangadhra stone. The stone used in many of the architectural antiquities of Ahmedabad. The stone has a mottled texture and bone coloration, available in blocks; slabs and dust from quarries nearby it became an obvious choice. It ages pretty well too. The cellular structure of this sandstone holds intermittent microscopic air gaps, acting as an insulation panel itself. This led to the idea of cladding the entire body of the house as a monolith. The organization of the plan is like a simple cross.

    COURTYARD HOUSE, AHMEDNAGAR|TOA ARCHITECTURE

Airy, scenic, spacious and landscaped; seemed like unimaginable attributes for a residence on a tight, gloomy, 3400 sq.ft. plot in the dense residential locales of Ahmednagar.

To counter opposing site conditions, the living space was conceived as an inward facing structure enclosing a central landscaped courtyard. What resulted, was a light-filled, spacious, living, breathing abode with striking visual elements and contemplative open spaces

FARMHOUSE DESIGN WHICH CONNECTS WITH THE CUTURE|ADDA ARCHITECTS

The clients had an idea of transforming the farmhouse into a place where their younger generations could feel connected with the culture and recreate the feel of places that the older generation had grew up in. With use of modernistic materials we have created an experience rather than just a place to stay for the family. Triangles being the strongest shape, we have used it in diverse way symbolizing our varied and strong cultural roots.
