  • This Interior Design Project Is One Of The Best Examples That Emphasizes And Follows The Context | Atelier 108

“Atelier 108 have shown subtlety and sophistication with a refined take towards elegance. While the walls keep an inward demeanor, the furniture and decor emerge to be the show stunners which are elemental, meaningful and profound.”- Nishal Sevak(Co-Editor)

Lighting up the entirety of a two bedroom plus office space is the balcony that wraps around the home. The western curve was the constraint that kept giving. The designers had a fun time overcoming the challenges it threw their way. This interior design project is one of the best examples that emphasizes and follows the context. With the client’s mind set on a modern yet kid friendly home, the design morphed into a complimentary one. Ever so kind and mellow, the client desired a bachelor pad with a softer touch for his children. Ar. Anusha Arun and Ar. Yoshitha V K, were requested to add a tender and soothing touch to the vast space and transform it into an abode of cozy comfort.

The foyer opens up into the living room lined by the balcony. The limited space due to a long curvilinear context was approached with an open planning scheme that achieved a flow of light and ventilation.

Civil changes were made to the living and kitchen in order to condition a more barrier free aesthetic to the space.

Scale and limitations finetuned the design to incorporate mirrors strategically. This broke through the otherwise lit and mediocre scale into an illusion of vastness in terms of heights and depths. The dining table placed in front of full length seamless mirrors capture a more liberal reprieve.

Art leather chairs paired with a marble top dining table brought out continuity among distinct spaces with glass and mirrors.

The open plan of the kitchen now catered to a more spacious and breezy environment. The iconic black top breakfast counter performed a transitory role connecting the dining and the kitchen. An instance of distinction through a bold connection.

One of the smaller bedrooms was converted into a home office space for Mr. Pramod. A quaint black and white theme with wood furnishings wrapped up the whole space. Symmetric balance of storage and usable spaces was achieved through clean cut geometry.

Hailing from Information Technology, Mr. Pramod preferred a clean and organized environment. He desired an intimate and close knit space over the cold and sterile territory that came with his profession.

The design process was one of the fastest yet tranquil experiences, Atelier 108 has had the privilege to work on. With minimal revisions and instant decision making of our client, the renders on our systems soon came to life on site.

The soft curves of all accessories with the sharp geometry of the furniture, the black and white themed home with pops of blues and tans all walk hand in hand with a complimentary design philosophy. Lush vibrant plants add to the environment by softening the space with a touch of natural landscape.

The master bedroom with a walk-in closet were all in subtle tones of grey and wood. Inline with a homey bachelor pad catering to not only Mr. Pramod but also his children. Vibrant blue artwork and a signature monochrome lounger contributed to the ingenious and comfortable space.

Plain tinted glass shutters provided a much needed transparency to the space without hindering the privacy of the users. Design thinking is a detail to be revered when accompanied with the painstaking art of procuring and installing appropriate materials, finishes and colors.

Another such bedroom to be admired is the kids bedroom. A color palette of neutral yet pleasant tint of Pista Green paired with tones of dark accomplished a bright and lively space for the young children of Mr. Pramod.

Using lighter colors to broaden lengthy spaces and dark tones to convey cozier environments are some of the subtlest design decisions taken by Ar. Yoshitha and Ar. Anusha Arun in this project.

Wide rectangular mirrors with fluted cabinets to match, highlighted the minimalist and straight cut approach to this two bedroom home with a bold and dramatic balcony. The balcony moulded like the waist of a guitar and this set the tone for designing this absolute masterpiece. The blacks and whites of modernism accented with pops of color and cozy elements uniquely transformed the various spaces and intonations into a home of one melody.
