From the moment one steps inside, Padmalaya, a family residence, whispers a sense of arrival, a place where the lotus blooms not merely in name, but in the lived experience of its residents. It stands as a testament to thoughtful, human-centric design that elevates ordinary moments into something truly extraordinary.
Padmalaya, meaning “abode of the lotus,” is a contemporary family residence that captures the essence of purity, serenity, and graceful living. Principal Designer Kajal Tyagi designed this warm and sophisticated modern home. The project blends contemporary aesthetics with subtle Indian sensibilities. The design creates luxurious yet deeply personal spaces. Everyday living becomes an experience of quiet joy and refined comfort.
The core philosophy draws inspiration from the lotus flower — rooted in simplicity yet blooming with exquisite detail. At InteriorsByKajal, we focused on crafting fluid, open spaces while preserving intimate pockets of retreat. Rich textures balance clean architectural lines, while natural tones gently warm neutral palettes. Thoughtful lighting enhances volume and drama without overpowering the senses.

The journey into Padmalaya begins at the entrance foyer, where a statement console in dark tones accentuated with wood rattan welcomes visitors beneath a carefully selected piece of art. Soft, diffused lighting from ceiling fixtures and a sculptural pendant immediately establishes a sense of calm and sophistication.
The main living room serves as the heart of the home. A generous Long sofa in soft neutral fabric forms the anchor, paired with elegant chairs and tall lamp. At the centre sits a low-profile coffee table crafted from natural wood and rattan inlays , thoughtfully layered with artpieces.
A sophisticated feature wall — featuring custom-designed panels in muted beige — adds depth and reflects light beautifully, offering a gentle nod to traditional Indian craftsmanship. Large windows and sliding doors flood the space with natural daylight, blurring the boundaries between indoors and outdoors. Sheer linen or cotton curtains provide privacy while maintaining brightness, and heavier drapes in earthy tones can be drawn for cozy evenings.
A statement chandelier suspended above the seating area creates vertical interest and a warm, inviting glow during gatherings. Adjacent to the living room, the family dining turns the space into a true reflection of the family’s togetherness and personality.
The dining space in this family residence is thoughtfully designed for intimate family meals. Dining table custom designed in in rich wood is paired with comfortable upholstered chairs that combine style with practicality. A dramatic linear chandelier of multiple pendant lights at varying heights forms a beautiful focal point, casting flattering illumination over the table.
The dining area flows seamlessly into the living zone, promoting effortless connection. Subtle coloured wall paper on the panelled walls with backrest and long seating bench adds cultural depth without cluttering the visual field.
In Padmalaya, the kitchen transcends its role as a mere workspace and becomes a subtle space of home making. The modular kitchen features clean, cabinetry in a refined combination of neutral matte finish paired with dark accents. Premium quartz countertops ensure both durability and visual elegance.
The mixed finish in beige matt seamlessly integrated in fluted glass cabinet maintains the minimalist aesthetic. A in simple shining tiles adds interest, while ample task lighting from under-cabinet LED strips and overhead fixtures makes the space highly functional and welcoming.
The adjacent utility or pantry area is efficiently organized with custom storage solutions that maximize every inch while keeping the main kitchen visually serene and uncluttered.
Each bedroom in this family residence is conceived as a personal sanctuary. The master bedroom radiates calm luxury with a king-sized bed as its centerpiece, flanked by elegant bedside tables and soft reading lamps. An upholstered headboard with channel-tufted and rattan detailing adds tactile comfort and visual interest. The color palette remains restrained — soft grens, warm beiges, and gentle hints of sage with tastefully installed wallpaper — fostering a deeply restful atmosphere.
A spacious wardrobe maintains the wood and rattan textures which goes with aesthetics of the room comes with with intelligent lighting and organized shelving simplifies daily routines. Floor-to-ceiling curtains elegantly frame the windows, while a comfortable floating glass minimalistic dresser offers a quiet corner for reflection.
Guest bedrooms and children’s rooms follow the same design language but incorporate slightly more flexible or playful elements where appropriate — modular furniture, soft accent walls, and ample storage to adapt to evolving family needs.
The material selection at InteriorsByKajal defines Padmalaya’s refined character:
Sustainability and longevity were key priorities. We selected durable, responsibly sourced materials and incorporated energy-efficient lighting solutions throughout the residence.
Lighting plays a pivotal role in bringing Padmalaya to life. A layered approach combines ambient, task, and accent lighting that adapts beautifully throughout the day. Ceiling lights and lamps deliver soft, even illumination, while statement fixtures add personality and drama. Dimmable controls allow residents to effortlessly shift the mood — from bright and energetic mornings to warm, intimate evenings.
Natural light is maximized through strategic curtain placement on windows, reducing reliance on artificial lighting during daylight hours.
Padmalaya is far more than a collection of beautifully designed rooms — it is a family residence that nurtures its inhabitants. Every detail, from the choice of hardware to the precise placement of switches and sockets, has been considered to enhance daily living while preserving visual harmony.
Designed by Kajal Tyagi of InteriorsByKajal, the project achieves a perfect balance between contemporary minimalism and genuine warmth. It respects the existing architecture while imprinting a distinct design identity that feels personal rather than imposed. The result is a residence where family members of all ages can find comfort, connection, and moments of individual peace.
This project reaffirms our belief at InteriorsByKajal that great interior design is invisible in its perfection: it simply feels right. Padmalaya invites its residents to slow down, breathe deeply, and truly inhabit the space — creating memories that will last a lifetime.
