A home is meant to be functional, aesthetic and should reflect the personalities of the homeowners. This project aimed to transform the house into a cozy and inviting space with a modern yet timeless aesthetic. The design concept of this home is oriented at making spaces fluid with several curved elements that are not only pleasing to look at but also cater to a sense of flow within the house. The entire house is connected by a corridor area which has been optimally used for multiple purposes. The design focused on a muted color scheme of teal and deep greens and greys or whites with some accent pieces in tangerine, yellow, pops of gold and natural wood textures.

The house declutters your mind as you step into it, with its clean and radiant ambience. The home belongs to a nuclear family, where the grown-ups and children work, play, and spend quality time together. The designers also kept the diverse needs of the family at the center of their vision. “We wanted to give the space a multifunctional character. The curves symbolize how urban houses change throughout the day.” said Benson D’Souza, principal architect of Bespace Studio.
The first step in the design plan was to understand the functionality of each space followed by its aesthetic appeal. The selection of furniture pieces were in such a way to create harmony between the contrasting colors.
A variety of soft furnishings further enhanced the comfort and coziness of the space. Visual interest and depth were kept minimal to the space, allowing the homeowners to personalize their home over time. The plush area rug in a mix of teal and grey tones added texture and warmth to the room. A collection of artefacts in coordinating colors and patterns created a sense of synergy to the design.
Given the space constraints in the compact kitchen, the designers decided to add a touch of connectivity between both the living and the dining area with it.
Along with ample storage for appliances and inventory, there is also a small reading nook created that can allow one to get some rest and relax.
The bedrooms of this home have a sense of fluidity in them. The master bedroom, for example, has an extension of the flooring onto the walls and the wardrobes of the room to add to the continuity that the design intends to establish.
On the other hand, the children’s bedroom tries to break the monotony of run-of-the-mill wardrobe spaces by utilizing the existing niches for storage to meet the needs of growing kids. The concrete and Burma Teak tones used in this room bring out the rustic vibe the designers envisioned for the boys’ room.
Last but not least, the terrace area of the house also has several references to the curve element. From the textured walls to the white lounge chairs, the space has a zen vibe and allows for the consistency of ease that flows from one space to the other. It’s the perfect space for a quiet cup of chai in the evening or a fun weekend of games with friends and family.
