‘DWARAKA’ means gateway and just as the name suggests, we walk into a homely world of elegance and warmth from the hustle and bustle of city life. The client approached our team to design their 3-bedroom apartment with a requirement of simple but warm design. Our main aim of the design was to make sure that we work on bringing in elements to enhance the interior and make the space seem spacious instead of cramming down the interiors to feel congested.

The naturally well-lit space makes this much easier on us as it washes our living spaces entirely and adds to the beauty of the same. We initiated our design process from the heart of the house that’s the living and dining and we tried out various styles before zeroing in on just what was required in a space that is modern but still can hold elements of culture and traditions. From then on, the design flew effortlessly into the bedrooms. We worked on maintaining a similar design style throughout the entire house and did not falter away from the base concept.
As you enter the living room, the magnificent Buddha mural catches all your attention. This piece adds to the richness and becomes the focal point of the entire space for us.
The layout of the house is an open plan with the display unit giving us privacy in the kitchen and also zoning out the difference. On one end of the linear plan, you have the wooden paneled and texture-painted TV wall and on the other, the balcony space acts as a perfect tea spot to enjoy the Kerala monsoons!
Another main focal point of this space is the wood-paneled ceiling with profile light which directs your vision to an elegant semicircular vanity mirror unit. Adjacent to this space is a simple but beautiful open Pooja unit that blends effortlessly with the aesthetics.
As you move into the kitchen, you witness that the design theme of beige and browns have been weaved together so beautifully in this space. We opted for monochromatic colors so that it blends in comfortably with the rest of the space.
Master bedroom oozes warmth and coziness with just the right amount of wooden elements, wallpapers, and beiges. As you move to the son’s room, the tones of wood and shades in the room are slightly darker to match his taste. The floor-to-ceiling wooden paneling with a black upholstered headboard becomes the focus of this space, adjacent to which we have black mirror sliding wardrobes.
Finally, the guest bedroom which is the smallest room demanded all the requirements of the other bedrooms but still had to look spacious.
A simple wall paneling with an orange upholstered end-to-end headboard makes the space feel warm and cozy. The wooden paneled sliding door was provided to the guest bath to avoid space constraints.
