Located in a posh locality in Surat, a luxurious residential project Aagam Paramount is taking shape. The designed residence is a show flat in that apartment building that exudes a peaceful charm. It spreads across an area of 2,427 sq. ft. The client’s brief entailed a space which appears like his own space and not a symbolic show flat. Thus, we took up the challenge to design an intimate and welcoming apartment space that echoes comfort, warmth and tranquillity. The neo-classical themed home was crafted to incorporate a balance between design, functionalities and their intended purpose.
An Intimate And Welcoming Living Space that Echoes Comfort | GROUND ZERO
VISIT : GROUND ZERO
In the entrance foyer, visitors are greeted with the play of patterns, bold upholstery and floral wallpaper that adorns the beige lime washed walls of the living room. A ledge wraps from the foyer to the living room which acts as a worship place.
The TV console has a monolithic presence and was designed using a bold Italian stone in contrast with the lime washed walls. A floral print carpet with a solid-coloured chair contrasts the sofa. The focal point of the abode is the screen which was procured from an antique store.
It is a 70 years old wooden frame repolished in black, tucked with shear fabric in between which separates the living area from the kitchen. Since the house has an open kitchen concept, it was necessary to uphold the privacy of the space.
The dining area, which is a part of the living room layout; is adorned by indoor greens that bring a subtle tropical flourish to the space. While the challenge arose in distributing the lights proportionately in the common areas, the ceiling was then designed keeping in mind a sense of visual continuity which ties the whole space together. .
An extension of the living area, the balcony comprises a comfy lounge chair, natural plants and a mural that was originally cut out from the jali door
Every room in the house has one accent colour which is selected based on the art that will preside over the space, which then filters down into the soft furnishings and decor details. The challenge in the assignment was its short deadline which was 30 days to design and execute the space.
The children’s bedroom is a mere 100 sq. ft space which is connected with the living room through a glass sliding door serving both privacy and allowing greater amplitude of natural daylight. A sofa cum bed has been placed against the window, to fulfil the function as well as the overall proportion of the children’s bedroom, allowing more space for them to play.
Circle pops on the wardrobe are reminiscent of the bubble fidget toy. A playful metal headboard with abstract highlighting artwork in red colour livens the space.
In the guest bedroom, earthy-coloured walls are layered with moulding, offset by artwork in MDF behind the bed. A floral painting highlights the TV unit wall.
The master bedroom sees a splash of blue, underlined by a monochrome headboard on the wall behind the bed which features a window that brings in ample light into the compact space thus, it is strategically covered with a headboard and a custom-made painting that adds charm to the bedroom.
The same graphical language has been followed on the wardrobe shutters to unify the wholespace. Overall a blend of textures, contrasts and soft hues has reigned over the flat, making it an absolute derivative of the concept that was visualized.
