  • A 3 BHK Flat in Mumbai Achieves Microclimate Through Minimalist Design | SAS Design

The design philosophy for this 3 bhk flat lies in a simplistic and minimalistic approach, characterized by a meticulous selection of materials and precise details. Restful Home is a three-bedroom apartment situated in the vibrant heart of Mumbai. In light of the city’s dynamic lifestyle, our objective was to create a microclimate that fosters tranquility within the space. We endeavored to capture the physical embodiment of the concept of “Home,” aligning it with the client’s interpretation. In response to the site and the essential functions required for the client’s way of living, a minimalistic layout was developed. A neutral palette of materials was chosen, reflecting a deep understanding of the inherent qualities of each material and its ability to evoke a calming atmosphere.

    3 BHK Flat

    The Design Elements & Challenge:

This 3 bhk flat featured impressive ceiling heights that allowed for abundant northern light. The team completed the initial challenge of the project on-site. Now, they just need to select the appropriate shades and textures for the materials. The colors draw inspiration from nature, featuring a cement-finished flooring base and oak-hued laminate to cover most of the furniture structures.

To soften the space’s solidity, the design incorporated cross-reed glass, which fostered a sense of connectivity and intrigue. The team crafted full-height shutters and doors to enhance the area’s verticality. Architectural lighting was seamlessly integrated, appearing as an intrinsic part of the volume rather than a distinct element.

    3 BHK Flat

A concealed track extended from the ceiling to the dining wall, imparting a subtle “wow” factor to visitors. The team executed the design with such precision that it preserved a sense of subtlety without overwhelming the overall aesthetic. Whether it is the texture of a tile or the design of wallpaper, the material does not demand attention in any instance.

    Planning:

The entrance for the end-user or visitor features an elegantly carved nameplate set into a stone on the door. Upon entering, visitors find themselves enveloped by an oak-clad environment that conceals essential functional components. As one progresses further, curiosity is piqued by the expansive sliding doors made of cross-reed glass, which serve to connect and separate the kitchen from the living area.

    Living and Dining Area

Progressing further, one encounters a spacious living and dining area that resembles a furniture showcase rather than merely serving functional purposes. The design integrates extensive storage into a large wall unit with full-height shutters, transforming it into a display piece rather than just a storage solution.

    3 BHK Flat

This design effectively addresses the family’s storage needs. Custom-made types of furniture contribute a personal touch, while the predominant white tones, accented by subtle nature-inspired green tiles, enhance the significance of the space.

    Kitchen

The design maximizes space efficiency in the kitchen, creating an exceptionally clean environment. The team seamlessly integrates all essential appliances with intelligent features. They also incorporate a well-ventilated area for fruits and include a compact temple to honor the clients’ preferences. The inclusion of full-height cabinets contributes to the perception of spaciousness. Additionally, a connected service balcony provides smart solutions for housing necessary service equipment.

    Daughter’s Bedroom

Progressing further down the hallway, one arrives at the daughter’s bedroom located at the end. The design team crafted this room with great creativity, resulting in a joyful atmosphere. The toddler has the freedom to explore various levels, all while benefiting from cleverly concealed storage solutions.

The design enhances the material palette with a custom graphic-clad feature wall that complements the overall theme. The team smartly designed the glass wardrobes, ensuring easy accessibility to storage.

    Master Bedroom

The design team created the adjacent master bedroom to uphold a sense of formality and structure. Understanding the spatial dimensions, they also devised a sophisticated shelving unit to accommodate various needs, including a television, dressing area, laptop station, and display items.

The room includes a bespoke leather-upholstered bed and it also complements the overall by a delicately textured wallpaper. The adjoining bathroom reflects a similar design aesthetic.

    Son’s Bedroom

The designers discreetly positioned the son’s bed behind the living panel, creating a compact space thoughtfully designed to meet a teenager’s needs. They incorporated a custom wall graphic with a magnetic element to enhance the room’s sense of depth. Further, the team intentionally designed the bedroom in a single tone.

    Shared Washroom

The carefully selected décor elements were designed to introduce a sense of softness to the environment. The oak wood tiles gracefully surround the shared washroom, complemented by a uniquely designed custom wash basin, enhancing the overall appeal for visitors.

Tranquility is attained in each area through the careful selection of materials and colors that contribute to the desired microclimate sought by all. This 3 bhk flat radiates a sense of effortless elegance with its minimalist furniture and natural textures. The clean, smooth lines of the furniture, along with the beautiful blend of wood, stone, and ceramics, foster a feeling of harmony and balance that truly calms the spirit. With natural light streaming in and the cozy ambiance created by thoughtfully chosen details, further, the apartment transforms into a peaceful retreat.
