The Earthen House is a 3Bhk Residence located in the eastern suburbs of Mumbai city. This project introduces us to a neutral color palette with a hint of earthen shades (Olive green/salmon pink) to add flavor in the design. The path taken for the project was minimalistic which is tailored as per the requirements of the clients. The owners of this house are a couple in their mid-forties living here in Mumbai, while their son who is in his mid-twenties, currently resides in New York, USA.
Neutral Color Palette With A Hint Of Earthen Shades | Studio Dezeinmatics (SDezein)

The owner is a businessman while his wife is a Yoga Instructor. Thus, they wanted a simplistic home. The brief we received from the clients was to provide a clutter-free house with a neutral color palette in the entire house to make it look light & airy.
Being the only apartment on a 14th floor of a 17-storey building, the entire entrance lobby is designed keeping the theme of the house in view. Once you enter, you come through a sliding main door into the living & dining room which has these huge windows covered with floor to ceiling drapes.
This continues with a modern minimal mandir block tucked inside the wall with a subtle wallpaper all around it. Kitchen of the house is done up in a monotone with the floor tiles running into dado and white back-painted glass shutters used in above counter storage to break the monotone shade.
A master bedroom on one side of the living area is inspired by the contrasting combination of brown and white while the other master bedroom on the other side is covered in oak wood with an accent of grey mirror and black fixtures.
While these 2 became the master bedrooms, a small room was converted into a multi-purpose room. This room has a floating study table facing the window which continues to become a ledge for the owners to sit and enjoy the view of the city.
When we sat on the drawing board to work on this project, we layered different textures and maintained the aesthetics that identifies with our client. The house is designed to cater well in terms of functionality and from maintenance point of view
