Workspace that Fosters Collective Creativity and High-Spirited Environment | Furnish ME Architects

For us a project is always exploration towards what the user do, what activities are going to happen and contextually where it is to be presented? Because anything that grows has always got a contextual narrative in it even if it is a global MNC workspace project of 2700 sq. Ft.

Workspace that Fosters Collective Creativity and High-Spirited Environment | Furnish ME Architects

Visit: Furnish ME Architects

For Glaxo Smith Kline, situated in Patna. We wanted to create something that defines them, their brand and their work but allocates their office as unique contextually. The space had to bear the binary responsibilities of making the office an inviting workplace for the entire employees. Cafeteria wall represents the rich heritage motifs arts and culture of Madhubani Art a sentimental art form of Bihar.

Close spaces were thoughtfully kept well lit, so as the spaces looks bigger and spacious. In order to maintain internal good quality, there is a presence of greenery throughout, making sure it has the minimal maintenance with boutique design of light with plants in it, throughout the workspace, cafeteria and reception. Client brief and aim was to create an open concept office in which team and community building through design was central concept. Vibrant colours, green presence and painting, we have tried to capture the co-existence of Bihar Madhubani aesthetics and culture in it’s design.

Every element in this office suggested some concepts starting from the reception area light element to the photo frames and partition of reception to workspace. Sustainable measures taken where the corporation of local materials, local arts and  local folk was done. Implementation of madhubani art using blinds made up of products available locally and hand printing the Madhubani art on the blinds using the scrap iron available on the site and converting them into the hanging lights.

Measures taken for occupants’ wellbeing were the use of air purifiers and use of indoor plants, especially plants like Areca palm and Money plant which are treated as the lungs indoors, overall while we were designing the space that is for healthcare as this office was for a healthcare client, sense of wellbeing and sense of feeling healthy is very important. we incorporated cultural practice and cultural shift to wipe the use of pay bills of justifying the mood of the employee there is a wall next to reception in which there are 5 boxes written as anger, sad, happy, excited, so whenever an employee works through the day and is going back then he/she has to drop a pebble in that box which depicts the mood.

Therefore this was just a small activity that anyone can imply for the mental well-being of the employees. Project ability to adapt to changing external scenarios – it was more of a censored way office or can say a smart office, the doors were sliding automated, the automation was used in most of the process where technology was used on the parameters of its acceptance rather than just overdoing it. The light used on the reception which was made up of the scrap available on the site that was found post construction.

Innovative materials used in the project, were the corporation of local materials, local arts and  local folk was done. Implementation of madhubani art using blinds made up of products available locally and hand printing the Madhubani art on the blinds using the scrap iron available on the site and converting them into the hanging lights.

The whole ROI thing in GSK was having the healthy environment and healthy mental conditions of the employee which as per the client we have attained such as by using those pebbles that I mentioned earlier and open working atmosphere as earlier the entire office was working in a close atmosphere which was the reason the transparency was not there.
