Blend Of Contemporary And Traditional Design Elements In This Residence | The Inspired Architecture

This 1100Sq.Ft. Ahmedabad-based traditional design apartment, being on the 7th floor, is owned by a family that had a simple yet intriguing brief – it was simple and sublime, with the contemporary and the charms of tradition. They wanted a space that felt like home. Simple planning that reflects this thought with ample natural light. They wanted us to integrate a sense of traditional elements within a space.

Blend Of Contemporary And Traditional Design Elements In This Residence | The Inspired Architecture

Visit: The Inspired Architecture

The entrance to the house is a long passageway that opens into the spacious hall. We understood that this part of the house sets the mood for the rest of it. It had to be engaging and stimulating and act as a bridge to the grandeur of the house. We incorporated wooden carved door handles and jarukha which remind us of our traditional thread. This gave the entrance an elegance of its own. The entrance foyer has a Jarukha to suit the core philosophy of enhancing the use of craftsmanship Which was done years before.

The living room which is having its one side facing to large balcony receives an ample amount of light which leads to picking of a subtle white textured wall to blend with the outdoor, with its soft color, which diffuses and softens the natural light,  further adding depth and interest to space. Simplicity, clean lines, and a monochromatic palette characterize the living room.

These stylish sofa sitting allow you the good comfort for relaxing and enjoying with the family and friends by complementing the customized to space ombre curtains. White ceiling makes the room look brighter and roomier, wooden ceiling just add the right amount of warmth and natural texture to the room.

While designing a kitchen, it includes lot of factors especially in India – the style of using it by clients, and always to consider functionality first. An open layout of  kitchen with limited continuation of the reflective finishes like glossy brown cabinets keeps blended with soft white texture on a wall, give the space a sophisticated flourish. The kitchen had large entryway where conceptualized a service unit on left. It keeps the area warm and earthy. Lofts are definitely the Indian elements for kitchen because we can never have enough storage.

The choice of the furniture in the dining area is contemporary yet laid out eccentrically, with a wall having niches like in a traditional home. Dine area looks even more rich with wooden grid niches highlighting by warm light.

Here these niches add a personal touch of showcasing clients ‘decor collections, which is a piece of ceramic art.

The bedroom offers a virgin aesthetic with simple clean lines that evoke the senses. Aligning to the wall texture, the upholstery reflects a pop-up color and curved edges but also blends in the overall decor.

Shades of White & Browns are used extensively, with the occasional Blue tone to mark an accent or feature an element. The table spanning across the wall has a corner curved space that is used as a seating space beside the window.

The bed, t.v. unit and wardrobe all feature the same wood repeated in distinct patterns of grooving and molding.

Our young client wanted to create a space where he would feel a sense of his own and that went like “bold” and “Fresh”. They wanted to keep it very soft and relaxing. With yellow being his favorite color, we played around it with a blue and grey fluted wall panel behind the headboard to offset it and made a cozy and fun den for him.

A touch of white on the paneled door of the wardrobe complements the bed back. White provides clarity and simplicity and allows other elements to stand out without taking away its own power to make space look bright and seamless.

Puja rooms are not just for performing religious customs, these spaces also serve as areas for contemplation and mediation, hence a small room dedicated to prayer with copper tone and patterns used in the background to highlight the wall and it is also considered auspicious. It is free from any clutter, only displaying items like couches, tables, plantation and wardrobe for functioning living. A clean design with a touch of luxury.

For balcony, Built in comfy seating for restful retreat and swing with the wooden ceiling create a cozy corner for the client . The space certainly is the highlight of any conversation.
