Vihal Buildcon Office Is The Basic Unison Of Veneer And RCC texture | Design Studio

The brief was straightforward. We had to design a functional office situated within the commercial area under a small workspace, in Vadodara. Keeping in mind with the fast-paced work and interactions, most workspaces seek raw yet refined energy. A place where communication is free-flowing and functionality are uppermost.

    Visit: Design Studio

When the client, approached Design Studio Associates to design a workspace, “their material palette was clear”, says Ar. Ruchir Seth. A palette of colours that understood each other with an inch of greenery.

Minimum artefacts and abstract painting on the walls, The Vihal Buildcon office is the basic unison of walnut colour Veneer wall panels, RCC textured ceiling, Metal engraved designs. The designer chose modern architecture to reflect ideas and thoughts. Inside the space too, various pops of colour take forward the visual connection. The work area assumes a minimalist.

The reception welcomes, with the city’s skyline. The metal in black is backlit, contrasted by the grey stone backdrop. The grooved RCC background, crafted with round wooden canvas rings, portrays the successful projects of the client.Despite the rich, dark Veneer panel walls, the office space still feels bright and inviting.

The hanging light fixture depicts a wide range of designs that have been suitably sourced to complement the aesthetics of the desk. Besides this, there are certain elements that stand apart. The hydro dipped metal abstracting the traffic, a terracotta vase, and a bronze bowl gives a finishing touch to space.

Lobby area opening lounge on the right and office cabin on the left, are blurred with glass film design on it. The use of glass allows the visitors to visually scan within the space—becoming a significant trope to create an informal yet slick tonality. With every minute detail well taken care of, even the door handles were also wrapped with leather fabric.

The Main office cabin was clubbed with the meeting room. Abstract paintings were not just hung on plain grey triangle grooves but “the texture variations were the main target”, says Ar. Ruchir. The designer preferred to stick with abstract and geometry that explains the metal clock on the Veneer panel.

A ledge for awards and artifacts was what the client asked for, while the designer took this as an opportunity to expose wood and metal. Plus peace affirming white pebbles was added perfectly to the bottom. Each of these spaces had distinct materiality and aesthetics. Certain materials flowed throughout the story of the office.

Live green plants were used within the window panels that extended beyond the room forming an L-shape. As the lake view was quite soothing, neither the designer nor the client wanted to break the view. Dried bamboos were used as an artefact to continue using colours that complimented each other in the room. The grey wall itself stood out with the vibrant coloured paintings.

The office is highlighted by an eye-catching metal carved logo, well lit by reversed light. It is supported on the RCC textured wall, resting on designed black metal. For the bold look, the contrasting shade enhances the visual distinction. The storage spaces are well hidden behind the Veneer panels.

The cabin office was built for the client’s son.  He asked a darker shade fabric for the couch. The designer carefully chose the orange colour that kept complimenting the theme through space. LED lights that were used to lighten the mood within the space adds a light-hearted touch to the room. The colour scheme was kept largely neutral with infusion of blue human sculptures throughout, reflecting the colours..

The materials, furniture and lighting pieces incorporated within the space come together visually as a seamless whole with the artworks further uplifting the appeal of the spaces.“Solid colours and shapes create a picturesque frame amidst each volume,” says Ar. Ruchir.
