  • This Neoclassical House Celebrates Monochromatic Charisma & Opulence | PRISM

    [Sassy_Social_Share]

The client’s vision for an abode within the fringes of city met with the designer’s approach to combine ‘Neo-classical elements with a monochromatic palette’. The palette of the home is understated in expression whilst focusing on essential elements of design with functionality at is core.

    Neutral, elegant and calming,
    Understated and timeless,
Somewhere between a sandy tan and a golden white.
Creamy and comforting, serene and simple.

    ~ Beige by Nicolas henshall

An inspiration from the extracts of the poem, the client emphasised the experience of their Neoclassical house, leading to design discussions focusing on balancing luxury and simplicity that resonated with their beliefs. Approaching with such sensibilities, the designers focused on crafting spaces with cleaner geometries, coherent patterns, neoclassical house elements and a harmonious blend of textures and tones.

    Foyer Area

The foyer area sets the tone of the project providing an initial impression of what lies beyond. Within a backdrop of wood panels, the approach is adorned with essential storages along with a classical mirror that underlines itself as an important ‘Vaastu element’ of most of the Indian houses, further gently revealing its timelessness of the home.

    Living Area

The living area flanked between its adorning elements and in-situ details, features an open plan configuration allowing maximum sunlight to bask in the space. Linear and ribbed pelmets, mouldings, neutral tonalities refine the public space. Elevating the characteristic of the space further is a custom artisanal mandir evoking a sense of calmness and providing the clients with their much-desired sanctum within the abode. Cohesively the dining area provides the quaint family time essential, while retaining the aesthetics and characteristics of the space. The living and dining area is an outcome of conscious decisions by the clients and designers to create subtlety yet enriching the vibe of the house with thoughtful opulence.

    Kitchen Design

The sentiment and functional priority of the house adjacent to the living area, gently celebrates its monochromatic charisma and opulence. The functional and aesthetic kitchen caters to all the primary storage essentials and requirements provided by the client, richly layered in beige hues and complements the primary spaces and adding contemporary refinements.

    Parents’ Bedroom

Private spaces are carved as extensions of the public areas and continue the spatial experiences and theme of the project, persuasive with their distinct identities. Ample sunlight highlights the textured appeal of the seemingly monochrome bedrooms, where minute details and thoughtful design elements add vibrance and character, giving each space its own identity.

Parents’ bedroom essentially provides the client with their requirements to accommodate paternal and maternal families, whilst providing comfort and multifunctionality. Subtle textures and whispers of beige punctuate the calm of the space, carrying the quiet essence of the earth. Soft, light beige walls with a speckled texture complement the ribbed panelling along the lower portion, adding a tactile dimension that contrasts beautifully with the space’s textural expression.

Soft upholsteries in muted olive-green, cleaner geometries in the wardrobe, offering an organised aesthetic. Also, convert the bedroom into a sanctuary for the elderly. It softens the world, inviting moments to be savoured in the embrace of stillness and simplicity. Every corner hums with a gentle harmony, a quiet symphony of comfort and simplicity.

Dressed in textured linens and soft upholsteries, in navy contrasts the primary area is earnest and comforting, surrounded by beige walls and an elegant curved mirror reflecting the still beauty of the space.

    Workspace

On the opposite side, a quiet workspace invites focus. Moreover, the serene corner of the wardrobe stands as a quiet testament to modern design. It is a smooth, minimalist surface interrupted only by simple geometric lines. The carefully placed vertical slats and open shelving at the edge frame the closet. They create a delicate tension between the closed storage and the open space beyond.

The design is an attempt to whisper comfort, simplicity and intertwine effortlessly elements of neo-classical and contemporary design. The home feels like a tranquil retreat, where each detail is designed to foster calm, warmth, and a sense of belonging.
