Inspired by the Sanskrit word Vana, meaning forest, this vastu compliant home home is rooted in the idea of stillness, warmth, and nature. From the beginning, we wanted the house to feel calm and personal. A space where wood, natural textures, and soft greens could come together in quiet harmony.
Our approach was simple. We designed a home that reflected the family’s lifestyle, values, and aesthetics. We worked with Vastu principles as a guide but focused equally on comfort and flow. The material palette is intentionally neutral. River-washed marbles, handcrafted veneers, textured wallpapers, and natural fabrics are layered to create depth. We used gentle curves to ease transitions between spaces and collaborated with Indian brands for custom furniture and art that brought meaning and local craftsmanship into the home.

We wanted the entrance to instantly communicate a sense of warmth and detail. The veneer paneling sets the tone, simple, clean, and inviting. We worked with Dtale Modern to customize a console that balances function and form, topping it with marble for contrast. Hidden storage keeps things practical, and a ribbed cage-style console introduces a textural rhythm that continues through the house.
This is the heart of the home, and we treated it that way. The greyish-beige marble floor gives a subtle base, letting the materials do the talking. We framed the service window in fluted marble to conceal it and finished the niche in veneer which now houses an old antique vase and highlighted the wall with Indian Art.
Designed in a L-shape, the couch fits the space just right, pairing it with a circular West Elm table and a textured rug from Loops by LJ. We used end tables from Objectry to add shape and dimension, and threw on cushions from AA Living and Sarita Handa.
We have placed beautiful circular length-breadth-height wall sconces to complete the arched panelling on the wall. Everything was chosen for both look and feel. Soft tones, curved edges, layered lighting. The dining table top is a single slab of white marble and rests on a teak wood rounded base.
Around it, we placed custom chairs in earthy fabrics from Sansaar – D’decor that make the space feel grounded and lived in and a fluted veneer and marble buffet table that ties into the linear elements of the home. Our customised marble light and dimmable Hybec lights help shift the mood from day to night.
The mandir was a special intervention. A converted powder bathroom now sits in the northeast corner as a quiet place of reflection.
We designed adaptable semi open doors to make the space feel more inclusive and accessible, and used white marble engraved with an Om as the main backdrop. The altar steps were custom-built to accommodate various murtis, blending reverence with thoughtful design.
The adjacent passage became an opportunity to bring in memory and meaning. We curated family photos and wall plates along the corridor, turning a transitional space into something personal.
This room is all about texture. We went with river-washed marble for the walls and layered it with cane and oak veneer. A custom multifunctional desk-dresser helps make the most of the room’s footprint.
Blue accents in the furnishings such as the headboard and bedding add just enough contrast to keep the space fresh. Even the handles were custom-crafted. Small touches we believe make a difference.
Here we leaned into soft forms. Arches, curves, and neutral tones and materials. We selected a pastel wallpaper from life-n-colors and applied it with a gentle arched motif as a focal point behind the bed. Cane-finished wardrobe shutters and PU-coated storage keep the material language consistent.
We also used cane and light wood for the curved headboard and side tables, keeping in theme with room. A Mirror and the dressing unit were designed to echo those same curves. Our bedding and curtains chosen from Sansaar-D’decor makes you want to sink in after a long day. The design goal was to create a room that feels cohesive and comfortable.
The brief here was clear. Make the space feel intimate and clean. We used darker veneers and blush tones to create a soft richness, while white PU finishes added contrast. To craft Vastu compliant home, we designed sliding shutters that allow the TV to disappear. Mouldings on the bed and panelling added a quiet detail. Even the dressing mirror was placed with purpose, aligning with the client’s day-to-day rituals.
Vana House – a vastu compliant home, was about balance. Between natural and modern, quiet and expressive, personal and timeless. As designers, we were drawn to working with natural materials and local craftspeople. We designed furniture that didn’t just fit the space but felt right for it.
Our intention throughout was to create a home that felt calm and complete. Where no corner felt too done and every element had space to breathe. It’s a project that reflects our studio’s belief — that thoughtful design should feel intuitive, rooted, and quietly beautiful.
