  • Chattarpur Farmhouse Redefines the Idea of A Contemporary Farmhouse | Nouveau Design Group

This project redefines the idea of a contemporary farmhouse, Chattarpur Farmhouse by Ar. Manish Mehta of Nouveau Design Group. Designed as a seamless blend of heritage and modernity, this 18,000 sq. ft. residence in New Delhi is a multigenerational home where architecture becomes a storyteller.

Editor’s Note: “Set against the greens of Chattarpur, this farmhouse is where every surface reflects thought, every void invites pause. A dialogue between heritage and minimalism, here, art flows across airy volumes, and stories unfold through every corner. Moreover, this is a place where architecture is crafted not just to dwell but to feel.” ~ Anusha Sridhar

    Indoor-Outdoor Dialogue

From its sculptural facade with antique brass finishes to a gallery-inspired lobby that showcases curated artworks, every space is crafted with an eye for detail. The interiors echo understated grandeur, featuring a double-height living-dining area, a striking fluted white marble fireplace, and a seamless indoor-outdoor dialogue that integrates lush landscapes into everyday living. It’s a home that balances privacy and togetherness, tradition and innovation, creating a sanctuary that feels both timeless and deeply personal.

    Chattarpur Farmhouse

The design of the project follows the idea of minimalist luxury with a series of immersive, art-forward environments; the interiors move seamlessly between bold restraint and expressive detail.

    Chattarpur Farmhouse

The main goal of the design is to create a unified yet unique spatial layout. The design also brings three generations together under one roof, valuing their own preferences while promoting harmony.

    Building Facade

The facade exudes a refined architectural language through its interplay of exposed concrete, vintage brass accents, and pronounced vertical elements, creating a visual symphony of texture and proportion.

Distinctive C-shaped frames elevate the design—these striking sculptural features, inspired by vintage camera lenses, frame curated views of the lush countryside and turn every angle into a picturesque moment.

These architectural frames are accentuated by linear LED lighting. As a result, their form is subtly enhanced while a warm glow highlights the material palette.

Extended canopies project from the structure with effortless poise. Meanwhile, minimal downlights contribute to the facade’s rhythm and vitality, adding a sense of movement and animation to the overall composition.

This carefully curated lighting approach ensures the building transforms with the changing light of day and night. As a result, it always remains visually engaging.

On the upper floor, floor-to-ceiling glass windows introduce a crisp sense of minimalism. As a result, natural light floods the interior spaces, reinforcing the connection between the built form and its natural surroundings.

    Design Inspiration

The design draws inspiration from minimalist styles. At the same time, it meets the clients’ requirements by tailoring the space to the family’s specific needs. While fusing the love for art and subtle aesthetics, the project stands out, akin to an art gallery.
