KRIPA is a residence that reflects the personality and lifestyle of its homeowner — calm, open, and rooted in nature. The project focuses on creating light-filled, green spaces with minimal private zones, encouraging openness and connection. In a time when spaces are shrinking but expectations are rising, architecture becomes the medium to bridge this gap — where design is the balance between intent and execution.
Green Spaces Come Alive In This Light-Filled Home In Bengaluru | Techno Architecture
Located in an older residential area undergoing redevelopment, KRIPA emerges as a thoughtful response to its context. The clients were clear from the beginning: the house had to be functional, clutter-free, simple, full of green spaces and true to their personality. This clarity shaped the entire process.
The compact, irregular 1500 sqft northwest corner plot, surrounded by dense urban fabric, posed challenges for designing open, well-lit, and ventilated interiors while ensuring privacy.
A fluid layout, careful planning, and skylights placed based on sun path studies helped achieve this. These skylights allow natural light to shift beautifully throughout the day.
The home is rooted in openness and flow through green spaces. Spaces are visually and physically connected. The double-height living room is the core of the house, filled with air and sunlight.
To emphasize this, walls between the living, dining, and kitchen areas were removed, creating one expansive space. This improves openness, natural light, and cross ventilation.
KRIPA exudes subtle elegance through its warm and natural material palette — Black Lava stone, grey vitrified tiles, Burma teakwood, exposed concrete jaalis, and brickwork. These materials combine to create a refined, grounded ambiance. The landscape features tropical, low-maintenance plants, adding lushness to the interiors.
Sustainability is integral, with solar panels and a rainwater harvesting system reducing energy and water use. The north and west elevations are clad in lava stone and concrete jaalis, ensuring privacy and airflow while diffusing harsh sunlight. In the double-height living room, the jaalis reduce heat and allow filtered light.
The home’s aesthetic — mainly white, with wood and aluminum accents, and softened by tropical greenery — reflects the owner’s gentle personality. Grey vitrified tile flooring extends throughout the house, visually enhancing the sense of space. The minimal, functional furniture complements the openness.
Large openings, cross ventilation, and a seamless layout ensure the house stays naturally lit and cool throughout the day, reducing the need for artificial systems.
KRIPA is more than just a residence — it’s a statement of lifestyle rooted in simplicity, openness, and sustainability. It responds to its urban context with clarity, offering a calm, functional, and nature-connected space.
