This Fluid Building Transcends the Typical, Rigid Confines of Office Design | Off The Grid

The client, who owns an established software development company, sought an office building design that went beyond convention. He desired a structure that transcended the typical, rigid confines of commercial buildings.

This project sought to challenge convention, creating a workspace that reflects the client’s unique personality. Achieving a balance between natural light and ventilation, often a challenge in commercial settings, was paramount for creating a harmonious haven. Furthermore, the client prioritized scalability to seamlessly accommodate future team growth.

Editor’s Note: “Located in Haryana, ‘Orbicular,’ an office building harmonizes innovation and functionality by redefining the environment through a fluid architectural language. The design reflects a skillful interplay of natural light, breeze, and flexible layouts. A hexagonal overlay pattern covering the facade and interiors creates a narrative of interconnection representing nature and the client’s vision.” ~ Anusha Sridhar

A Symphony of Fluidity and Nature

However, embracing the client’s aspirations, we embarked on crafting an office that embodied “Orbicular,” a concept inspired by the fluid. This theme fills each element of the design, from the facade to the interior details.

The building’s exterior is a captivating display of fluidity. Thus, meticulously crafted to deviate from the rectilinear norm.

Furthermore, the facade, composed of hexagonal shapes, symbolizes the interconnectedness of nature’s elements. These shapes are also echoed in the building’s stairs, flooring, and furniture, creating a cohesive visual narrative.

Naturally Lit Space

Moreover, understanding the client’s desire for a naturally lit space, we strategically positioned the building to optimize sunlight penetration.

However, the west-facing orientation posed a challenge: managing the harsh afternoon sun. To address this, we incorporated hexagonal screens that act as a dynamic veil, filtering sunlight and creating a comfortable, diffused ambience.

For the client’s potential team expansion, we designed the office with scalability in mind. Additionally, the adaptable layout and ample square footage provide the flexibility to easily accommodate additional workstations and team members.

Furthermore, this forward-thinking approach ensures that the office can seamlessly evolve alongside the client’s growing business, fostering a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Dynamic Workplace

Moreover, the project presented a unique opportunity to transform an existing industrial structure into a dynamic and inspiring workplace. We leveraged the existing 1500-square-foot office structure. Thus, seamlessly integrating it with a newly constructed elevated volume that offers private, enclosed spaces for focused work.

This juxtaposition of old and new creates a compelling architectural dialogue. Thus, celebrating the building’s past while introducing contemporary design elements.
