Located in the lush, green scenic areas of Palghar, this 3-bedroom apartment had typical features of a newly purchased space. However, we quickly noticed that the natural light was limited due to the surrounding mountainsides. The clients, a couple in their late 50s and their daughter, who’s settled abroad, requested neutral shades for the apartment but were unsure of the design direction.
Having traveled extensively, they suggested blending Japanese and Scandinavian themes. The daughter specifically wanted white as the dominant color, with pops of color introduced through accessories and upholstery.

Since the house had a square-shaped living room, it was necessary to create an entrance foyer space to separate the areas and create a sense of privacy.
The common wall between the bedroom and living room was removed to create a more spacious feel. However, this civil alteration enhanced the overall planning of the house.
The kitchen area was altered for a more open look.
One of the project highlights is the den area, a key requirement from the clients due to their family’s avid reading habit.
Additionally, the den also includes the mandir, positioned as per the family’s vastu consultant.
Moreover, the olive green sofa and jute rug tie the room together, making the space come alive.
Speaking of the aesthetics, the designer duo took the route of believing in less is more, weaving the homeowners free-spirited nature into the decor and design of the house.
While following the brief of keeping white as a predominant shade, we thus added our own touch of using soft pastels and neutrals that blended well with the smart and minimalist look of the space.
Moreover, the decor pieces were carefully chosen to blend with the theme and complement the heavy white and brown palette.
The finished 3- bedroom apartment, hence, is the perfect reflection of the clients’ tastes and experiences.
