  • A Modern Apartment Designed With Tasteful Details and Opulence | Bonita Casa

Clients upgraded from a 3-bedroom apartment to 4 BHK in just 2 years, so wanted to retain most of the furniture pieces and we had to work around that. At the same time, they wanted newness, elegance and high storage too.

A Modern Apartment Designed With Tasteful Details and Opulence | Bonita Casa

    Visit : Bonita Casa

A modern apartment designed with tasteful details and opulence right from coffered ceiling in the study to wainscoting in the passage to mirrored wardrobes with a chandelier in foyer to a cherry red arched door is a treat to the eyes.

Editor’s note : “Can your something old become something new?” This modern take on “opulence” is an architectural study about retaining and redesigning existing elements and bringing them into a new light. The endeavour emphasises functionality alongside aesthetics. Rooms are reinvented to accommodate more space and activities, while the coffered ceiling in the study and the wainscotted passage enhance the Victorian setting. Arched doors and pastel-coloured walls give way to soothing interiors, while the cherry red accent chairs, ornate paintings and vivid photographs add eccentricity. Rattan sandwiched wardrobe in the Master Bedroom, juvenile Wallpaper in the Kid’s Room, and the Taupe checkered headboard in the Guest Room are all characteristic of the user and pitch the idea of embracing individuality and retaining one’s originality. ~ Venessa Thomas (Co-Editor)

Lot of architectural changes were done to the space to make it more functional and beautiful. Servant room was broken down and equally divided between foyer and kitchen. Foyer has a full length 10 ft wide storage cladded with rose gold tinted mirror to create illusion of more space and light.

Arched door and a crystal fabric chandelier creates an impressive sense of arrival. Foyer has a sandal paste wainscoting that leads you to the living and dining space. Sheer blinds in foyer allows light to filter in and visuals of plants around the window.

Living area has a neutral sectional sofa and cherry red accent chairs with a wooden bar on side.

Walls are ornated with the family’s favorite destination landscape picture and a modern tanjore painting on the opposite side above the accent chairs.

Dining area looks stunning with a checkered accent wall and a distressed finish Victorian chandelier.

An independent matte gold floor standing shelving unit houses family pictures and little curios collected by the family over the years.

Right opposite to dining area is the kitchen wall serving as a family picture gallery on either sides of the arched kitchen entrance.

The matte grey flooring against the monochrome kitchen flooring defines both the spaces and add so much character.

Study/ Den is a bold, dramatic space that suits the personality of the user . Walls have a dark grey texture paint finish accentuated with various photographs clicked by the client himself.

Coffered ceiling with black cylindrical lights just binds the entire space together. Black and wood – what’s not to love here!

Moving on to the master bedroom that has a modern take on rattan sandwiched wardrobe with intricate knobs and charcoal black laminate.

Wooden flooring flows to the little fluted details on the TV unit wall. A super comfy floor chair becomes the showstopper with a brushed gold pendant light.

The daughter’s bedroom is a pastel paradise and accentuated with a beautiful deer and bird wallpaper in pastel green above the chalkboard wall.

The bed has been carved out from a 13 ft wide wardrobe along the wall to maximize storage and cladded with lighter laminate to keep it easy on eyes. A cue upholstered chair under the yellow pendant lamp is a cozy corner for the little one.

Guest bedroom is minimal and has a Parisian setting with the taupe checkered headboard, chest of drawers with leather and fur details that is placed along the light grey striped wall canvas.
