White Feather Resort Designed Amid Natural Scenery Of Madhuban Reservoir | Rachaita architect

The client’s brief was simple – the visitors should feel immersed into the nature while staying at the property. This brought us to a challenge where each and every existing tree had to be retained while the design flows around it. So, we actively took this up and came up with two cottage types: lake view cottages and mountain view cottages for the White Feather Resort designed amid natural scenery of Madhuban Reservoir.
The lake view cottages are strategically distanced and positioned alternatively so that the row behind would not have to compromise on the serene view of the lake. Whereas the cottages with the mountain view are sited on the backend of the site, bringing them closer to the tranquillity of the hills.
An interesting reception area greets the visitors and makes them aware of the closeness they shall feel to the nature during their stay, right from the entrance as it is designed around an existing tree with a certain rawness that it portrays.
The construction area is around 1860 sq.m, including several amenities to enjoy with families- like a Club house with Gym and Games area, Spa as well as a Swimming Pool.
The restaurant is enveloped with glass to incorporate as much nature within while dining, along with the view of the lake.
For those who desire to dine under the starlit sky, an outdoor dining area is moulded right on the edge of the lake to enjoy the sillness of the night.
The site section is quite fascinating due to the slopy terrain and moreover the context surrounding it. The sole purpose of the resort was to make the visitors feel as if they are a part of the nature the minute they step out of their cottages.
The pathways are carved stunningly alongside the lake’s periphery throughout, connecting all the cottages and amenities.
There were a few existing structures that were renovated aesthetically to match with the rest of the resort‘s architecture.
The cottages are shaped like a tent offering a feeling of camping. However, the indoor layouts are almost similar to one another with spacious rooms and an informal seating for a cup of coffee near the huge floor-to-ceiling windows; overlooking the lake while engrossed within the surrounding trees.
Whereas the outdoors provides a chance to enjoy the magnificent lake and the mountains to feel the nature.
Over and above the resort remains persistent towards its concept throughout, making it a soothing and memorable experience for the guests captivated by the nature’s calming spell!

Rajas Cottage was a special project as the home is in my ancestral town Mangalore and belongs to us. The project is a 90+ year old Mangalore style villa.
