Designed for a family of four, this 1,200 sq.ft. residence challenges the notion that smaller spaces must feel constrained. Instead, it embraces openness — both spatial and sensory — through thoughtful layout planning, clean lines, and a warm material palette that feels both contemporary and deeply comforting.
The design philosophy centers around three principles: fluidity, warmth, and restraint. Spaces flow seamlessly into one another — living, dining, and kitchen exist not as separate rooms, but as interconnected zones that invite movement, light, and togetherness. Warm wood tones offset neutral walls, while soft curves in furniture and archways soften the minimalist aesthetic, adding a human touch to modern design.
Nandita Sampan is not about excess. It’s about intention. Every element — from the arched doorway that frames the dining area to the expansive windows that flood the home with natural light — serves a purpose: to create a sanctuary of modern living that feels open, inviting, and intimately personal.
Completed in just three months, this home proves that thoughtful design doesn’t require vast square footage — only a clear vision and an unwavering commitment to harmony.
The Concept Inc
The design places a sculptural curved sofa in soft beige at the centre of the light-filled living room, making it the heart of the home. Large windows with sheer curtains bathe the room in natural daylight, while maintaining privacy. The ceiling design features recessed cove lighting and a sleek linear detail, adding vertical drama without overwhelming the compact footprint. Minimal décor and a warm wood coffee table keep the palette grounded and cohesive, while patterned accent seating introduces subtle texture and visual interest.
Framed by a graceful arched doorway, the dining area sits in visual dialogue with the living room and kitchen. A compact four-seater dining set in warm wood tones creates an inviting setting for everyday meals. A delicate pendant light gently illuminates the space, adding warmth and intimacy. An elegant archway frames the dining area with quiet confidence. More than a simple threshold, it becomes an architectural feature that celebrates the space.
An open-concept kitchen seamlessly integrates with the living and dining zones, promoting interaction and ease. Dark cabinetry in matte finish contrasts beautifully with warm wood upper units, creating a balanced, modern aesthetic. The layout is efficient yet uncluttered, with integrated appliances and concealed storage ensuring that function never compromises form. The kitchen becomes a social space, not hidden away but celebrated as part of everyday life.
Each of the four bedrooms is designed as a personal retreat — minimal yet complete. Neutral walls and wood accents create a calming atmosphere, while built-in wardrobes maximize storage without intruding on the floor area.
Large windows ensure ample natural light and ventilation, reinforcing the sense of openness throughout the home. The master bedroom features additional space for a small seating nook or dressing area, tailored to the needs of the family.
