Editor’s note : “A monochromatic take on Opulence. In this open-layout apartment, the concept of luxury finds its most sublime interpretation. The exquisitely elegant furnishings and marble-themed interiors create an ambience that resonates with the essence of home. The presence of gold-tapered walls and stunning lighting elements elevate the living space to unparalleled heights, offering a truly awaited and indulgent haven for relaxation.” ~ Venessa Thomas (Co-Editor)
Wanting a luxurious feel for their apartment, the clients were not keen on going all out with over-the-top features and elements. What emerges, as a result, is a fine balance of comfort and homeliness with a touch of urban sophistication and opulence.
The house adopts an overarching minimal design that is achieved through monochromatic elements throughout the space.
The entryway greets you with an inlay which is reflected in the mirrors on the ceiling, creating a striking illusion. Beyond the entrance lobby is the living room, which has been conceptualized in an open layout.
Being the primary space for the congregation of family members, an accent marble wall substitutes the TV unit in this room. Rich grey display shelves flank this feature wall on either side. Elegant sofas and bespoke lounger chairs make up the ample seating space in this room, lending it a homely ambience.
A set of sliding-folding doors separate the puja room from the main space which extends into the dining area on the other side. Low-height credenzas bring about a visual distinction in these two areas while still maintaining the openness of this space.
The dining room flows into the spacious kitchen. A predominant white and grey palette is evident in the kitchen.
A breakfast counter and a large kitchen island complete this space in terms of function and style. Italian marble flooring and PU-finished wooden elements give these areas a regal touch. The dining area opens out into the main balcony of this house.
The parents’ bedroom is located right off the dining area. Featuring a louvred headboard made up of various size gradations, this room is finished in a beige and cappuccino colour scheme.
It comprises a spacious, L-shaped wardrobe which extends into a TV unit and a study space.
On the other side of the apartment, a European-styled foyer leads into the other bedrooms and the lounge.
Contrary to that, the master bedroom speaks of opulence and suave, with coffee brown and cream tones. A roomy walk-in wardrobe leads into the master bathroom which emanates a classy, hotel-like ambience.
Designed with fine Italian marble, inlay details and soothing lighting, this bathroom features a jacuzzi along with a shower area. A sitting nook has been carved out into this room to create a comforting, homely ambience.
Adopting blue and white hues with hints of grey, the children’s bedroom makes use of more funky and dynamic design elements.
Back in the foyer, another set of sliding-folding doors opens up into the TV lounge. Designed with cosiness in mind, this lounge features a veneered ceiling and wooden flooring. A mix of bean bags and throw pillows encourage floor seating for the perfect TV viewing experience.
Strategic use of indirect and soft lighting emphasises the luxurious theme of this apartment which is brought about by the prevailing neutral, minimal colour scheme.
Being an outstation project, the designer’s team had to overcome challenges posed by the pandemic to expedite the design of this home. Procuring some of the elements from Mumbai and shipping them to Bangalore posed another challenge that the team worked through. Highlighting state-of-the-art materials and design elements, this Bangalore apartment embodies a deluxe, premium feel, fitting its name – The Uptown Suite.
