Situated in Baner, Pune, this luxurious 4BHK residence (1450 sq.ft) is a combination of contemporary, minimalism and subtle luxury, guided by the client’s clear aspiration for openness, modernity, and refined elegance. Unlike a traditional cozy home, the client envisioned a space that felt grand, uncluttered, and luminous, blending sophistication with a fresh, contemporary character. Our objective was to translate this vision into a home that exudes serenity, elegance, and functionality, while remaining deeply personal and reflective of the client’s lifestyle.
This Traditional Cozy Home Blends Sophistication With A Fresh Character | CREATRIX Architects
Our design philosophy revolves around the ability to analyse each project holistically and in detail, producing sustainable designs that respond to their cultural, social, economic, and urban context.
We prioritize indigenous materials, natural light, pure geometry, proportion, and nature, creating architecture that resonates with serenity, joy, and inspiration.
In this residence, the philosophy translates into a calm yet sophisticated spatial experience achieved through a light, neutral palette, Italian marble flooring, warm wood veneers, granite finishes, and mirrored surfaces that expand and reflect the sense of space, while gentle pastel tones add understated vibrancy.
The central concept focused on expansive, balanced, and functionally defined spaces. The open-plan layout seamlessly connects the living, dining, and kitchen areas, while the breakfast counter and furniture placement act as subtle dividers without interrupting flow
Reflective surfaces and natural light were leveraged to enhance depth and openness, and bespoke furniture pieces, including a dining table, centre table, and chess table, complement the interiors in both form and materiality.
The master bedroom’s abstract lazy seating, integrated with book niches, became a personal highlight, embodying both comfort and design artistry.
The inspiration for the project stemmed directly from the client’s personality and brief desire for grand, uncluttered spaces with understated elegance, where light, proportion, and materiality guide experience.
Every design decision, from mirror walls to glass-shutter wardrobes and material contrasts of granite, rose-gold, and wood veneer was informed by the ambition to create a home that is airy, refined, and timeless, while remaining playful, personal, and welcoming.
We executed the project during the COVID-19 pandemic, navigating highly restrictive conditions. Working on the 16th floor of a building still under construction, we had no functional lifts, so we transported all materials and manpower through a single material lift.
This made the process laborious and time-consuming, demanding exceptional coordination and perseverance from everyone involved. In addition, material selection proved to be particularly tedious. Travel and operational restrictions were major challenges, as every vendor visit required special permissions.
Sourcing materials and coordinating with suppliers for this cozy home under these constraints required meticulous planning. Remote communication and constant follow-up was done to ensure that design intent and quality were never compromised.
Despite these limitations and the uncertainty of the time, the team ensured that work continued seamlessly without compromising on quality or detailing. Every aspect from logistics and material movement to on-site execution was planned and supervised with utmost precision.
The collaboration between the design team, contractors, and workers became crucial in overcoming daily challenges. This experience not only tested but also strengthened the team’s adaptability, discipline, and problem-solving abilities. Thus, turning an extremely constrained situation into a story of resilience and dedication.
In essence, this cozy home embodies the seamless balance between thoughtful design and mindful execution. Rooted in a modern and minimalist approach, it achieves a sense of grandness and spatial vastness through simplicity, proportion, and light. Every element from materials to detailing has been curated to evoke calm sophistication and understated luxury. The project stands as a reflection of collective effort, teamwork, and dedication that brought the design vision to life.
