  • This Second Home Is A Sea-Facing Retreat Of Layered Luxury And Comfort | Crest Interiors

Inside a second home: In this sea-facing Sea woods residence, Crest Interiors crafts a rented retreat for a South Bombay family balancing urban elegance with quiet coastal charm.

When a South Bombay-based couple decided to invest in a second home, their vision extended far beyond bricks and beams. They weren’t just seeking a getaway; they were imagining a space where life could unfold a little more slowly. A space where their three children could unwind from city life, and where design would speak in sober tones. Their search led them to Seawoods Estate: an open, sea-facing enclave. Here, flamingos visit the horizon, and evening walks through lush gardens are part of the daily rhythm. It was here that Crest Interiors began transforming a dated apartment into a haven of layered luxury and personal comfort.

    Design Brief

The family dynamic played a central role in the design brief. With three children, an eldest son who’s married, a social and sparkle-loving daughter, and a youngest son who prefers his quiet corners, the interiors had to adapt to multiple personal styles while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic. The couple themselves wanted warmth without heaviness, elegance without formality, and above all, a home that didn’t feel like a weekend at but a space that could hold memories, conversations, and everyday rituals.

As a loving father, he wanted to gift his daughter something truly special, their cherished second home. At the same time, it was created to serve as a family vacation retreat, a place where generations could gather, relax, and create new memories by the sea. The result is more than just a home; it’s a heartfelt legacy, beautifully designed to be treasured for years to come.

    Living Room

Nowhere is the design philosophy more evident than in the living room, where craftsmanship, layout, and atmosphere coalesce into a story of modern comfort. Anchoring the space are deep, tuned velvet sofas in an elegant teal and an international pop of colour that draws the eye while still harmonising with the neutral palette. These plush seating arrangements, paired with a sleek curtain-top coffee table and sculptural metallic accents, set the tone for a space that’s both inviting and elevated.

The feature wall is a visual statement clad in backlit onyx and anchored with brown mirror panels. It houses a minimalist entertainment unit that glows warmly as evening light pours in through large windows. Roman blinds alter this light solely, creating an ever-changing play of shadow and reflection. Indoor plants placed strategically throughout add an organic softness to the strong lines of the furniture, while carefully curated accessories like ceramic vases and crystal elements reflect the homeowners’ refined taste.

    Dining

The layout prioritises openness and flow, allowing the living space to transition effortlessly into the adjacent dining area, where a custom crystal chandelier hovers above a sleek dining table surrounded by quilted velvet chairs. Here, the family often gathers for weekend meals or hosts friends, a testament to their love for social connections and shared experiences.

    Bedroom Design

Every bedroom within the home tells its own story. The eldest son’s room is designed for comfort and cohesion, perfect for a married couple.

And the youngest son’s room is all about softness, light, and the kind of calm that encourages rest and reflection.

The daughter’s space sparkles with personality, blending subtle glamour with cosy corners for conversation and self-care.

Ultimately, this home is more than a sum of its materials and niches; it’s an experience. A quiet luxury that whispers rather than shouts. A design that listens. And a space that gently holds the story of a family in motion, rooted in elegance, ease, and enduring beauty.
