Velvette Sky reflects a shift in how fine dining environments are emerging in cities such as Ranchi. Instead of prioritising spectacle or visual intensity, the restaurant interior design places emphasis on atmosphere, material depth and emotional presence. The dining room is shaped for slowness and closeness, encouraging guests to remain present in their experience.
Terracotta flooring, soft leather seating and a muted stone palette bring a grounded sense of calm. Overhead, a suspended cluster of lantern-like lights creates a warm, evening glow that shapes the rhythm of the room. The space invites diners to settle, listen and connect, offering a hospitality experience defined by tone and feeling rather than display.
As a continued collaboration with the client, the restaurant interior design advances a hospitality identity rooted in subtlety and intimacy, mirroring a broader cultural movement toward quiet refinement in contemporary dining spaces across India.

There’s something about the dusk hour that blurs the edges between day and night, that moment when the world quiets but does not dim. Velvette Sky captures that fleeting transition, translating it into a fine- dine experience that feels poised between the grounded and the ethereal.
This project marks a continuation of our collaboration with the Aasman brand. While the earlier space explored a more rustic café and restobar language, this one sought to reimagine that spirit through refinement. The brief was to redefine the chain’s identity without losing its essence. Velvette Sky became that bridge, elevating the brand into a more sophisticated expression while staying rooted in its original warmth.
Staying true to its name, the Velvette Sky evokes the hues and calm of an evening sky. The palette rests on beige walls and chocolate-brown terracotta tiling, tones that hold warmth and texture, building an atmosphere of depth and quiet elegance. These surfaces respond beautifully to soft, warm light, allowing the entire space to feel enveloped, balanced, and almost meditative.
Lighting plays a deeply expressive role. Suspended above, the banana bark and leaf paper lanterns, stained and patterned in rich coffee hues, reinterpret the idea of sky lanterns rising at dusk. Their presence gives the space a subtle rhythm, where light drifts and pools gently across textures. It is a contemporary gesture to the evening sky, an elevated calm that defines the identity of the restaurant.
Every element here has been chosen for how it feels as much as how it looks. The terracotta tile cladding lends warmth and tactility, while soft faux leather and striped fabrics on the seating bring a quiet sophistication. The bar stools, dressed in vibrant, textured fabrics, offer a contrast that feels playful and confident within the subdued scheme.
The black-and-white granite surfaces, particularly at the bar and along the arch jambs, bring a sculptural clarity to the composition. Their bold veining becomes a punctuation, anchoring the interior and offering balance to the surrounding softness.
Abundant greenery fills the space, adding freshness and rhythm. The plants act as spatial punctuation, breaking geometry and introducing a quiet organic softness. Their presence ties the scheme together, breathing life into the layered palette.
Centrally placed within the layout, the bar defines the heart of Velvette Sky. It connects the dining pockets seamlessly while remaining a destination in itself. The design draws inspiration from the raw warmth of a desert sun, where deep hues meet a moody lightscape.
A stepped ceiling, dim accent lighting, and rich fabrics lend the bar an immersive character that shifts the mood of the entire space. The granite, with its sharp pattern and polished surface, responds beautifully to the amber lighting, reflecting warmth. This corner becomes a meeting of contrast and calm, where intimacy blends with energy, and where the evening truly begins.
Set slightly apart yet visually connected to the main dining area, the six-seater pod is for those who prefer a quieter, more personal experience. Its language is one of understatement and balance, defined by the pairing of light oak against gloss dusky brown finishes. The contrasts here are deliberate but gentle, giving the space a sense of refined calm.
Partitioning within this zone is designed with care, allowing separation without isolation. You remain a part of the larger space, but with your own quiet pocket of time. It’s an area that feels personal and measured, ideal for intimate gatherings or unhurried conversations.
Velvette Sky is, at its core, an exploration of duality. It invites guests to feel grounded yet elevated, enveloped in an atmosphere that deepens as the evening unfolds. It is a study in restraint, in how textures, tones, and light can together create a mood that is luxurious without excess, contemporary without losing warmth.
The design is not about a single statement but about the continuity of feeling; how one moves from light to shadow, from openness to enclosure, from the familiar to the elevated. The beauty of Velvette Sky lies in its quiet confidence, its ability to let the experience grow on you slowly, like dusk settling across the horizon.
This project is more than an evolution of the Aasman brand. It is a redefinition of its soul, one that embraces maturity without letting go of its heart. A fine-dine space imagined as an evening sky, where textures become light, and light becomes experience.
