This Immersive Space Is Designed As A Retail Space For Luxury Lighting | Avani Karia Designs

[Sassy_Social_Share]

The Beam Box is an immersive luxury lighting, automation, and audio-visual experience studio envisioned for one of our most trusted long-term collaborators in architectural lighting manufacturing. Having partnered with the client across numerous projects over the years, this commission was especially meaningful—a chance to transform their compact 350 sq. ft. warehouse unit into a refined boutique destination where technology, ambience, and design seamlessly converge.

The brief was to create a space that not only displayed products, but allowed visitors to truly experience them in context. We began by completely opening up the existing internal office cabins to maximise volume and create a fluid, collaborative layout. The result is a lounge-inspired environment that feels equally relatable as a contemporary residence or a sophisticated commercial setting, helping clients instantly visualise products within their own spaces.

Ceiling

We treated the ceiling as a dramatic canvas of innovation, showcasing circular skylight-inspired features, architectural spotlights, magnetic S-shaped runners, POP-integrated lighting details, and layered illumination systems. Every element was designed to demonstrate the versatility and visual impact of modern lighting solutions.

Curved Walls

Soft curved walls and flowing forms introduce movement throughout the studio, while custom niches elegantly display both fixed fittings and movable premium concealed shelf profiles. A dedicated profile corner demonstrates how multiple cove lighting forms and ceiling effects can be achieved using a single modular product—an especially valuable solution for homes with lower ceiling heights, where clean finishes and minimal drop-downs are essential.

Below the display niches, custom chest drawers with handcrafted wooden knobs bring tactile warmth and understated luxury to the space. These thoughtful details balance the technical nature of the products with a more emotional, human touch.

Moodboard Corner

We also integrated an interactive moodboard corner into the studio, allowing clients to bring material samples and test them under varying light temperatures. This hands-on zone transforms decision-making into an engaging design process, helping clients confidently select the most suitable lighting ambience for their homes or projects.

Materially, we wrapped the studio in calm sophistication. Limewash plaster flows continuously across walls and ceiling. It creates a soft monolithic shell that allows the lighting fixtures themselves to become the heroes of the space. Warm wooden flooring with handcrafted curved skirtings introduces comfort and craftsmanship. Light oak veneer paired with black-dyed veneer adds contrast, depth, and elegance.

Luxury Retreat

The overall mood evokes a contemporary luxury retreat—reminiscent of sculpted sand dunes animated by light and shadow. Automated curtains, a short-throw projector with integrated screen, and inbuilt speakers complete the sensory journey. Thus, making visitors feel as though they are seated within their own living room or lounge. All this while effortlessly experiencing multiple products at once.

The Beam Box is more than a showroom. It is a carefully curated spatial experience where innovation meets atmosphere, and where design transforms product selection into inspiration.
