  • Saffron Villa Celebrates Balanced Lifestyle with Simple Home Design | Studio Slate

    [Sassy_Social_Share]

In the historic town of Kishangarh, Ajmer, a golden glow settles each evening over a residence – with simple home design, that seems to hold the light as much as it reflects it. Aptly named The Saffron Villa, this 9,300- square-foot home designed by Studio Slate is an ode to the rich amber tones that wash over its west-facing façade, a poetic homage to the warm, earthy vibrance of saffron. But beyond its namesake, the home is a lesson in balance: between form and function, tradition and modernity, structure and softness.

Saffron Villa Celebrates Balanced Lifestyle with Simple Home Design | Studio Slate

    Design Concept

Designed for a young nuclear family, the home embodies their vision for a Vastu-aligned residence that embraces openness, community, and nature. “The client wanted expansive common spaces for seamless interaction, a grand double-height entrance, and verdant landscape zones integrated into the home,” says Ar. Aadhar Jain, principal architect at Studio Slate. The result is a modern contemporary residence rooted in contextual sensitivity, where architectural lines are clean, but emotions run deep.

    Harmonious Living Design

The heart of the design lies in a focus on harmonious living. The spatial configuration fosters continuity across formal and informal zones, living, dining, and kitchen spaces flow effortlessly, subtly demarcated to support functionality without compromising the openness.

    Formal Living Area

One of the standout moves is the indoor-outdoor connection. The formal living area spills into a landscaped garden, creating a soft threshold where gatherings extend into nature.

    Kitchen Design

The kitchen, open and centred around an island counter, serves as the social core of the home. It becomes a space for casual meals, conversations, and culinary play, reinforcing the idea that design must serve the rituals of everyday life. The layout is not just spatially efficient but emotionally responsive, each area designed to “breathe,” as the architects put it, filled with light, cross-ventilation, and contextual logic.

    Volumetric Play

Studio Slate’s design philosophy is evident in the home’s fluid verticality. Well-planned voids and double-height volumes ensure visual and experiential integration across floors.

    Dining Area

The more masterfully expressed is the dining area, framed by a sweeping staircase and grounded by bespoke flooring, which is crowned by a geometric, three-dimensional wooden ceiling. “It’s the design element that truly has our heart,” shares Ar. Sakshi Patni is, co-founder of Studio Slate. “It adds depth and drama without overpowering the space, becoming the visual anchor of the home.”

    Material Palette

Materiality plays a pivotal role in shaping the home’s understated elegance. The use of stone cladding, Italian marble, wooden ceilings, and natural veneers strikes a delicate balance between raw and refined. The textures, though restrained, are layered with intention, creating a tactile dialogue that complements the architectural rhythm.

    Cohesive Design

From a design standpoint, The Saffron Villa is everything Studio Slate stands for: modern, effortless, and to be lived-in. The home, they say, turned out exactly as envisioned, clean, cohesive, and deeply aligned with both client expectations and their design values.

“We’re not interested in trends, we design timeless spaces that respond to people, their lifestyle, aspirations, and emotional needs,” says Ar. Aadhar Jain.

If there’s a signature to this home, it’s the way every element, be it a structural void or a ceiling detail, works in harmony to evoke stillness, grace, and subtle grandeur.

As the sun begins its descent and the home glows in hues of saffron, one understands. This is not just architecture; it is atmosphere.
