Home is just but a reflection of the people residing in it. And here in this house, every nook and space is a resonance of A young couple with an unbridled modern outlook, and informal, easy-going warmth. Their brief was to have an Open, Airy and Warm home with an amalgam of contemporary and Indian-folksy aesthetics where amber is befitting in every which way. It being the Open Sky in Indian Vernacular, warm sun in Greek Mythology, precious gem in hues of Yellow, Blue, Green.. Colours that are dominant in this home. And just like the couple it sounds Indic-Bohemian and contemporary at the same time.
“There is something very fulfilling about arches, they are easy to the eye and one’s senses. That feeling only doubles up in this apartment with immense warmth and simple design ideology.”- Nishal Sevak(Co-Editor)
A deep creative thinking led to the proposal of Arches across all these openings to accentuate this courtyard impression. We proposed. Client agreed wholeheartedly. And Rest of the design after which has been an enhancement of the arches and integration of the brief.
Open, Airy and Warm Home With An Amalgam Of Contemporary And Indian-Folksy Aesthetics | Simplécede

To begin, Veneer Panelling around the Arches was suggested for a warm appearance, while having an airiness around. Natural teak finish was used on them was continued as a language in every veneer based unit and element, be it the Crockery, TV Unit, Study/Side Ledges, Wooden Slats, Breakfast Counter fascia
Foyer, gives a sneak peak to the large living with a broad TV space with Rattan finish shutters. Around it, every furniture thoughtfully picked up from freedom tree homes adds to the fulfilment of the gathering area, yet keeping it minimal.
Right behind the living room is the kitchen with an open plan and a breakfast counter. Its a neutral wash of cabinetry and granite with the blue mosaic tile that truly draws attention, beautifully accentuated with the Arch entry.
Innocuously driven by their own brief, the clients had a room-wall, facing the living and in close proximity to the kitchen, broken down to convert the space into an open dining room. With this conversion done, when the team got to designing the interiors, the communal spaces started depicting a courtyard wherein living seemed the focal and all the rooms, kitchen, dining and Foyer looked into it and vice versa.
Perpendicularly besides, is the Dining room, especially created with a lot of love and care. Wooden flooring lends to the warmth, low-height Crockery unit with fluted glass and granite top fulfils storage, recessed arch in mellow ochre sings the language and artefact partition ties a neat bow to the room.
This room is a mood and indeed the highlight of the home.
Next room in geography is the study cum media den in a contemporary palate. Study ledge unfolds to a window seating on one side and continues as a TV ledge on the perpendicular wall. Here Clients wind through the work and unwind after work.
Besides it is also the gaming zone to a passionate gamer in the client. Twilight is a sight to behold here, giving an impression that the Sun is setting right into the window’s lap. All one needs is a Chai and an immersive mind space.
Master bedroom continues the warm and earthy language of the bedrooms. Freedom Tree Furniture in the specially curated natural teak finish merrily synchronises with the palate. There was large enough a space for a wholesome walkin wardrobe zone.
However we continued with the open and airy brief and wardrobe area is only partitioned mildly with wooden slats instead of hard wall/ sliders.
Guest Bedroom follows where Wardrobe is done in Royal Blue PU polish with TV ensconced within it on one side. This room is also a second work from home room and an elaborate study ledge is thereby provided for.
A last minute inclusion during designing was a rattan headboard bed. Combination of the Royal Blue wardrobe and Rattan weave of the bed makes the space very earthy. Aren’t we glad for this addition?
