  • Merging Classic Victorian And Trendy Design Styles For The Home Interiors | THE DESIGN PLEXUS

Apartment 707! stands for balance and harmony, and that’s exactly how the design style of the house has been conceived. The house belongs to a nuclear family of 3 where the couple were inclined towards merging Classic Victorian and Trendy design styles for the home interiors, and that’s where the architects Arzu Jaria and Mandar Kamble from The Design Plexus married the two into a Classic- Contemporary Style Home. This design style is a juxtaposition of traditional Victorian features such as ornate moldings, wainscoting, cornices, wall lamps etc. toned down with a Contemporary touch of furniture, lighting, Fabrics, textures and other elements. It integrates aspects from both worlds to create a balance that results in striking decor. The color palette used here is neutrals, with classic shades like white, grey, beige and brown dominating the look. The furnishings are dramatic yet functional.

    VISIT : The Design Plexus

The 750 sq.ft. of this 2bhk canvas is designed to look elegant, sophisticated and luxurious. The entrance door with customized SS grill and colored glass panel welcomes you in an aura of colors and fills you with the warmth of the family. The living space was conceptualized to house multifunctional spaces such as dining space, drawing room, and party corner.

The walls of the living room are enhanced using the classic elements of wainscoting, wall moldings, and cornices. These are highlighted using neutral colors, whites, and the customized artwork by a Fine artist in the molding frames and the exquisite wall lamps which adds that personal touch to the design. The living space comprises of a 3-seater suede Fabric sofa, a tan color lounger and Indian style low seating at the window to provide a nice informal space for family gatherings.

The designers have chosen a circular Oynx Stone Top dining table with double upholstery chairs to save on space yet provide a comfy dining experience for the Client. One can easily be allured from the living room into the long passage due to the strong contrasting colors of these spaces.

The passage is colored with a deep teal which contrast the warm peach of the living space creating a sense of curiosity to explore more as it leads to other interesting rooms of the apartment. There are long niches carved out in the wall to display all the travel souvenirs of the client and take them on a memory tour. Adding the classic touch to this space Tiffany lamps are installed in the ceiling.

The utility space at the end of the passage is a perfect classic contemporary corner designed using classic pattern white tiles paired with vertical grooves on the wall and amped up with crystal wash basin, led mirros and wall lamps. The toilets are a composition of mosaic & pattern tiles on the accent walls, Jaquar fittings, fluted glass partition, mirrors and designed storage spaces keeping it simple yet elegant.

The Kitchen is designed with white nano tile counter top and glossy finish laminates on the storage units to give a sense of larger space. The backsplash tiles are yellow color floral pattern tiles to add some pattern and break the monotony of whites and greys.

The designers have mindfully designed a mandir space with depth of 4” with Custom made back-lit glass background within a molding frame to highlight the space.

Adjacent to the kitchen is the kid’s room enclosed with a pleated sliding partition to define the space. To optimize on the little space available in the room a Multifunctional bed housing storage and pullout study table is designed.

To make the room more personalized the kid’s interests are assimilated in the educative world map wallpaper, astronaut theme blinds, white board laminates on table surfaces for ease of writing and avenger theme wardrobe door handles.

The Master bedroom is touched with a Fresh Mint green color with moldings running right from the headboard up to the ceiling defining & giving a subtle backdrop to the Master bed. Here too a customized bed with pullout storage on one side and a pullout single bed on the other is designed to cater to the personalized needs of the Client.

Complementing the Master Bed is the full height wardrobe with Charcoal sheets on the doors creating an interesting modern pattern of lines with Glitter finish to add some classical glam.
