According to the client’s brief, the villa was to be designed for a family of 4. Since the clients believe in nature, they wanted the design to be inspired by the concept of nature, which we were able to do in a way that the materials were handpicked. The zoning of the spaces and levels in the villa was done in such a way that the interconnection between the semi-private and private spaces and the levels were maintained through the landscape pockets provided on each floor. The levels in the structure increase as we go from northeast to southwest. This level of play in the villa represented the structure of a mountain, hence the name Himadri. These landscape pockets consisting of vegetation and seating also have MS structures adding the required mass without making the structure bulky.

Scooping out the volumes drifted our ideas towards bringing in direct & indirect light and playing with shadows. The material palette comprises elements like red brick cladding, sandstone, Corten steel, and shades of beige and grey textures giving the structure an earthy tone.
The major intention of the planning was to create spaces to come out and experience some breathing spaces. The lighting & ventilation has been directed into the space through windows & niches, rather than directing it from the façade.
The problem faced by the client’s family in their previous house was not having enough interaction with the family member, which was addressed by providing collaborative spaces on each level besides having private spaces. Vertical connection is provided through cutouts on each floor.
Although each space reflects one major element, it includes the remaining elements as well in various forms so that every space is projected as a whole rather than a single entity.
Drawing room : Contentment – Earthy tones from a leather backdrop, a gold metallic texture ceiling,a yin-yang marble flooring and two perforated hanging lights create a warm and welcoming space.
Dining : Courage – Grey and beige textures in combination with different marble surfaces, white abstract breeze blocks, gold highlights, contrasting curtain folds and a ceiling with wavy birch ply rafters creates a bold and interesting space.
Kitchen : Calmness – A combination of rose gold laminate with a beige rustic finish caesarstone countertop and dado adds a soothing look.
Living area : Compassion – A carved mintstone cladding with cement grey textures, a subtle blue Turri sofa overlooking the pool area creates a peaceful mood.
Guest bedroom : Clarity – Green vaulted ceiling with a tropical wall mural and indirect lighting gives this space an outdoor vibe.

Master bedroom : Calmness – A flowy curved level up in combination with a circular window, a fluted bookmark marble backdrop, AGT panels and various layers of lighting gives it a soothing look.
Parent’s bedroom : Contentment – The predominant use of wood in combination with neutral colors and indirect lighting makes it a charismatic space.
Library : Clarity – An oval shape stretched ceiling light forms the center of attraction. The fixed seating that has been created acts as a partition between the two levels and defines two different zones.
Second floor common area : Contentment – This space is separated from a connecting terrace garden through a glass sliding folding door which makes it a part of entertainment zone. The major highlight of this space is the fingerprint ceiling created by combining the actual fingerprints of the clients.
Terrace garden : Clarity – A curved seating with plants in the backdrop and a sky blue microtopping texture created soothing outdoor spill out zone.
Children bedroom-1: Calmness – The room is separated with an M.S and cane backdrop creating a cozy seating zone overlooking the balcony behind it. A v red tile flooring in combination with the warm tones brings in a soothing effect.
Children bedroom-2 : Compassion – The grooved birch ply panels and ash wood rafter in combination with a leather backdrop, a brass hanging light and tints of blue and yellow covered in a grey shell creates a comfort space.
Spa : Courage – The spa is equipped with a jakuzzi, a steam room, a powder room, a massage bed and a dressing vanity. A black MCM cladding and two circular stretched ceiling lights inspired by the caverns along with a cappuccino color shell creates a subtle experience.
Gym : Compassion – A white stretched ceiling light running around the mirror cladded walls creates an illusion of a skylight and makes the gym look spacious.
Home theater : Courage – Three different layers of lighting such as the optic fiber stretch ceiling light, cove light and the decorative rattan wall lights create a mesmerizing entertainment space.
The private entertainment zone is placed on the terrace without giving continuous transportation and by doing its boundaries have been set between public and semipublic spaces. The name ‘Himadri’ means ‘a mountain of gold’. It is referred as such due to the innumerable blessings of nature {for eg: air, water, flora, fauna etc)that come from a mountain are in its purest form.
Our clients believe in the idea of “heartfulness”, a simple and subtle practice of meditation that connects oneself with the light and love in their hearts. Hence the entire concept of interiors is based on five ‘C’s of heartfulness. And that is how studio8055 planned “Himadri”, a nature inspired family villa in Telangana.
