  • Functional, Detail-Oriented And Minimal Mumbai Home | STUDIO-ARCH

Functional, detail-oriented and minimal Mumbai home. These are the words that highlight the personality of this impeccably designed abode by Studio-Arch. Led by architect Bhakti Desai under the wing of founder architect Sachin Indvatkar, the design team at Studio-Arch were keen on crafting a space that underscored the clients’ ethos – a minimally driven life that eschewed gaudy maximalism. And hence, a contemporary vision anchored by convenience began to manifest in this apartment.

Setting the tone for a seamlessly elegant design language, an arched opening affords peeks of the minimal aesthetic that prevails inside right from the entrance itself.

Plush jewel-toned upholstery, detailed murals of textural depth and a composition of framed artwork that captures the homeowners’ personality characterises this homely living room. Elegantly placed accents that not only make the design pop with their vibrancy but find echoes in other zones to tie the language together cohesively.

A sleek cut-out punctuated with warm wood in the kitchen wall visually tethers it to the open living-cum-dining area, ensuring communication. A language of repetition and a rhythm of lines also dominates, seen evidently in the ceiling design for the dining, the panelling of the tv unit and the fall of the drapes. Each adding to the other, the design begins to open up beautifully.

The lighting here captivates – magnetic lighting reemphasize the geometry of the ceiling, further complemented by the wooden alcove that demarcates the dining.

Rounded forms, curves, and a circular motif – with bespoke furnishing, whimsical lights and curated wall murals define this dining nook that spells softness and minimal yet glamorous charm. Warm wooden tones complement the white-washed aesthetic brilliantly for a design that oozes both minimal elegance and a timeless warmth.

Starkly linear in its geometry, the designers ensure they break the monotony with a play of voids and materiality, adding distinct warmth to the kitchen. Keeping structural alterations to the minimum and keeping the design as sustainable as possible, the designers only made one notable change in the spatial configuration. Originally, the kitchen was set apart from the rest of the living zone, segregated by a wall which only emphasized its extremely linear character. By opening up the otherwise isolated kitchen, they converted the public zone of the home into an engaging space of conversation.

A bright and peppy blue anchors the daughter’s bedroom, capturing her personality and translating it seamlessly into a visual expression. A triad of mesmerizing blue hues come together to the complement the light oak furnishing, while the repetition of wooden panels adds to this peppy aesthetic.

A more muted expression of blue takes centre stage in the parents’ bedroom, conveying a sense of calm serenity with its exploration of hues. One finds textural depth layered here in multiples, on the geometric rhythm of ribs on the wall, to the plush upholstery that manifests in the space.

A vibrant tone of red dominates the master bedroom, while mouldings on the wall bring forth a layer of classic influences in the otherwise starkly minimal and modern design.

The master bedroom is the boldest of them all, spotlighting a bright red hue that pairs perfectly with the warm wooden tones. Simple yet modern design governs the bedroom.

A curated composition that exudes warmth and cozy appeal, this master bedroom is a sight for sore eyes, replete with design touches of timeless elegance.Arched motifs recur through the space, suffusing the design with a dimension of cohesive softness that pairs brilliantly with the sleek and luxurious metallic design touches.

Of nuanced textural depth, the concentric POP wall murals are crafted with care on-site, sure to add a unique flourish to the design while underscoring the designers’ keen attention to detail. A conceptual study of warm lights, cozy cushioning and subtle colour themes was carried out for the final expression of design. What emerges is a beautiful lesson in simple and timeless design – one that captures the soul of the homeowner perfectly.
