Situated on a 5,300 sq. ft. plot in Nanded, House of Arches by Curated Spaces Studio is a thoughtfully designed 6BHK duplex bungalow tailored for a multigenerational joint family of eight. While the home presents itself as a singular, cohesive structure, its planning is strategically conceived to function as two independent living units when required. This duality allows the joint family to live collectively in the present while ensuring flexibility for future division—an approach that responds sensitively to evolving family dynamics.

At the heart of the home lies a centrally positioned Brahmasthan, accentuated by a skylight that acts as a vertical connector between the two levels. This architectural feature becomes more than just a source of daylight; it establishes a spiritual and emotional core within the house. Natural light filters down through this opening, illuminating the interiors and creating a calming, almost meditative atmosphere that aligns with traditional spatial philosophies.
The architectural language of the residence is defined by a series of refined arches that shape both the exterior façade and the internal transitions between spaces. These arches lend the house a timeless character while subtly guiding movement throughout the interiors.
Complementing this is a striking cantilevered parking bay spanning 30 by 20 feet—a bold structural gesture that introduces a sense of lightness and balance to the overall form, showcasing both engineering precision and design intent.
Materiality plays a crucial role in grounding the home within its regional context. The use of Kota stone, textured plaster, and locally sourced materials creates an earthy, tactile palette that resonates with the surroundings.
The architects thoughtfully integrated intricate bird carvings and handcrafted elements, adding layers of cultural richness and artisanal expression. They draw inspiration of these details from Indian traditions and further reinforced them by Vastu principles. They ensured that the home is not only aesthetically pleasing but also spiritually aligned.
Internally, the design emphasizes clarity, functionality, and emotional comfort. Every element, from custom-designed furniture to handle-free cabinetry, is curated to maintain a clean and uncluttered visual language.
A carefully planned lighting scheme enhances the spatial experience, highlighting architectural features while creating warmth and depth across different zones.
The first floor, on the other hand, offers a more private and relaxed setting. It houses additional bedrooms, a guest room, a secondary living area, an office, and a children’s room.
A terrace balcony adjoining the kitchen establishes a gentle connection to the outdoors, providing a tranquil retreat within the home.
The spatial planning achieves a delicate balance between openness and privacy. Shared areas foster a sense of community, while intimate corners offer moments of solitude and personal comfort. This layered spatial experience ensures that the home caters to both collective and individual needs.
Rooted in tradition yet articulated through a contemporary architectural language, House of Arches embodies a harmonious blend of joint family cultural values and modern living.
It is a residence where thoughtful design meets emotional depth. It is subtle in its expression of luxury, yet profoundly rich in meaning and experience.
