Editor’s note : “Featuring a delightful blend of opulent wallpapers, soft-toned walls, and exquisite marble comes a penthouse where you can have it all. While its magnificent chandelier pays homage to the lavish lifestyle, its interiors are no less. Floral murals, rich furnishings and a myriad of artworks enhance the allure of the rich setting. While the wooden flooring aids in creating a sense of cohesion between spaces, the design, unfortunately, lacks a unified theme overall.” ~ Venessa Thomas (Co-Editor)
The ground floor is spatially designed to accommodate major public areas with a cut-out that shifts across the floors, providing green elements and a visual connection to all the spaces. The balconies do not merely provide access to the outer views but include the outer scapes as an element of the design itself to the interiors.
Design of the slightest of details and nuances of various aspects of the interior was attempted through this project, wherein apical reform was purposed to transform a standardized apartment to serve a family’s austere yet lavish lifestyle.
Discover Yourself With Art – Be it climbing the dramatic staircase or dining at the breakfast table, the attempted blending of artistry into every space elevates its humble function to an event.
Art is an integral part of life and when this integral part is merged with the design of your residence it becomes a therapeutic experience, every art piece has a story and adds to the charm and visual comfort of each space, like the swamp deer peeping out of the ripple water wall is a very pretty and unique thing to look at, it immediately teleports us to a forest where we can actually witness this scene whilst relaxing and being thrilled.
Zoning – The staircase leads to the upper floor, where a lobby overlooks the double- height drawing and dining rooms below. Two bedrooms are place precisely above the ones below, one of which extends above the entrance lobby on the lower floor. The master bedroom at the other end has balconies opening towards the front garden.
Colour Therapy – Grey and white surfaces with discrete, novel forms unify the house, and provide the ideal canvas for a splash of colour. The carefully selected decor with intriguing lighting design and customized artworks add character to the spaces.
Embracing Natural Light In Design – Daylight, ventilation, interconnectedness, and privacy inform the design of this residence. The house was formulated as two interconnected duplex apartments for an extended family of six – the client, his wife, and two children in one apartment, and his elderly parents in the second apartment. The design exercise began with the intent to create a strong visual connection between the different units while keeping the spaces airy and well-lit.
Natural light as we know it aids in therapy and helps us to relax our senses, here the kitchen is north east facing and is filled with natural diffused light throughout the day.
Materials And Fancy Finishes – The interiors are done up with a limited material palette—wood for the ceilings and furniture, Makrana marble for the flooring, glass to maximize the surrounding views, and white walls that maintain a calm ambiance within the home.
Natural materials like Sandstone Stone, marble, wood, and indoor greens add the much needed panache to the otherwise very humble space design.
Master Bedrooms – The Bedroom overlooks the courtyard near the family living, creating a soothing visual experience for the user. The space is illuminated by large windows and strategically placed openings, which produce a constantly shifting show of light and shadow.
The interior of the bedroom for 3 is further adorned by greenery that drapes from the upper seating area, giving it a dynamic impression.
A reading area covered with stone paneling with PVD profile is provided around the reading lounge and private space with a visual connection to the outdoors and first floor lobby.
Section Play – Traditionally defined as a roofless space that is either enclosed completely or partially by walls, the courtyard provides a cool, secluded area to socialize or relax outdoors, but within the home. The widespread wall art and cut-out space at “The Cosmopolitan Loft” house ensures this comfort on all levels with the help of sectional play.
Hot air rises up via the courtyard and leaves the premise from the windows installed in the terrace parapet. This ensures comfortable living temperatures and daylight in each part of the house
Therapeutic Art Right At The Center – Daffodils reminded the client of his beautiful childhood in California and we wanted to do everything to bring back to him the same vigor, excitement and innocence of that rime, getting back time is impossible but to recreate the design in a much more defined and profound way is much easier and aids therapy.
Imagine looking at your favourite wall and smiling thinking of all the beautiful memories or future aspirations it holds for you, it surely is a surreal experience.
Use Contrast Of Colour In Furnishings – 2 factors that aid therapy in terms of bedrooms in the kind of prints and textures we use on wallpaper, laminates, upholstery etc. and the second one is using an exciting and contrasting colour palette in your bedroom, it makes the space attractive and adds the pop of colour to your space.
Therapy With Design – The penthouse is a spectacle in itself for this is the same reason that it is being called “The Cosmopolitan loft”, Each and every corner has been designed with utmost care and precision while keeping the concept of therapy in mind.
Every corner is therapy inducing in itself, the whole lobby was transformed into a daffodils courtyard where the daffodils are floating in a double heighted space in stone. Its Beautiful demeanor is enlightening the whole space rendering the penthouse with a surreal and amazing view right in the middle.
Amaze Spaces put the amaze in every design detail by incorporating therapeutic designs in all aspects, by focusing the lifestyle of each and every inhabitant or user who is going to use the space. It begins with Studying their patterns and understanding what their schedule of the day looks like, it is a subtle and beautiful process where we incorporate elements like natural light, natural finishes and materials to probe the inner conscious and let us live a free life through design.
Landscape & Foyer – The entrance to the home is a space built with green landscaping and stone. The addition of exposed concrete blocks along with the plantation serves as a visual treat as they lead up to the main porch. The wooden ceiling in the sit-out area and the raw textured flooring blend with the landscape beautifully to provide a stunning experience to the user.
The union and subtraction of geometries create an interesting play of lights and shadows, dramas in solids and voids. The entrance foyer has a mild colored background with the bright mustard seaters really brightening up the space. The foyer visually leads up to a feature wall with marble accentuated with wall decors to welcome people upon entering the house.
Landscape Inside – The design is an attempt to create an eagerness to explore the spaces, while walking through them. It involved working with numerous scale models, testing form and spatial relationships and then refining them. The project also emphasized detail in terms of materials and forms. The attention to detail has created perfect transitions between different spaces. The connections between different areas were studied, so that they functioned optimally.
