  • An Office Space Spread Through Levels of Elegant Interior Design Styles | Designworkz

The site is in a mall, now converted into office spaces which provided double height with an opportunity to add a functional mezzanine space, and to manage this double height we kind of took inspiration from the client’s product that he is normally known for. An office space spread through levels of elegant interior design styles.

The design was conceived under the idea of the product client’s company promotes. A special fabric used to make temporary hospitals around the city, sales offices, and wedding venues on grounds. So, considering that we came up with a wave pattern “like fabric swaying in the wind” on the main wall of the office that is double height and creating an impact from the outside.

The office had very simple requirements, the client understood the size of the space that they had so they were free to explore the idea where there was an open large meeting room which also doubles up as the workstation for the staff to use. So it was more of a concept of  an open community table in the office where people shared ideas and worked together and there were no departments.

The reception being a double height we had a nice ribbed tall panel which floated right from this start of the office or rather the front and it translated thru the passage the reception table itself also wrapped into same finish to the wall again depicting the way how a fabric reacts against wind or rather a flag how it sways in space in the wind.

The design was developed by using a grid work of ply which was then wrapped by a flexi ply that created the shape and then layered with thin strips of BTC that were fixed on the on the entire flexi ply pattern which created the depth and the groove and the detail which added lot of elevated delicacy at the same time the darker tone of the wood kind of gave depth and the luxurious look and feel with contrast of fluted glass and fluted marble on the opposite wall.

The client brief was to make the office more than basic. He wanted a functional space but with a lot of luxury and play of patterns and materials.

Which is why even the flooring had a play of patterns. We found a peculiar white marble with grey stripes almost like zebra print. We then took the natural veins of the stone and laid it in a brick pattern. It just brought so much play in the space and that could be appreciated from any corner of the reception or mezzanine level.

Both the cabin directors had similarity in design and yet they had their own individual personality. The client itself did not want storage around in their room or neither was their requirement but they did want a you know a backdrop which created an interesting space or where they could accessories and have a conversation starter.

Both the cabin had a backdrop with a shelving design with texture paint that was on the wall and stretched to the ceiling as well which kind of created an interesting field of the space to amplify the height and created  kind of seamless look to the area the cabin.

The entire office did not have an ounce of natural light coming in so, we had to rely on lot on artificial lighting and to amplify the space and smartly placed materials like fluted mirror, fluted glass and monolithic choice of materials be it flooring and furniture or texture paint had come into the use.

We had cabin table in marble again wrapped in one material to create a volume and seamless look while, the other cabin had a little bit of glam and a flamboyant look the cabin had glass it was wrapped around the fluted glass altogether with the backdrop of black aluminium shelving which created shadow if lit in a certain way and the table itself was a floating tinted glass top with a gold leafing detail at the base.

The open office area on the mezzanine level acted also as a large meeting room and open workstation room space.

To manage the weight on the upper floor and to add maintenance we consciously choose wooden looking tile again fixed in a diagonal shape just to add more lines and volume to the space or make it look visually stretched and longer and to contrast that we had a large table with again the white marble from the lower level on the top.

The two small cabins had a monolithic look so we first chose the wooden tile and then matched it with the veneer so when the space came together it all kind of went into that monolithic feel and it just made the look seem lighter than actually it was.
