Apartment Design:Geometric Twist With A Touch Of Elegance | MV Design Studio
Calm.Peaceful.Tranquil.Soothing apartment design. Not over the top. This was the brief we recieved when was commissioned to design this compact 900 sqft home designed to meet the requirements of the client to convert a 2bhk apartment to a comfortable 3bhk home.
With its geometric appeal ,polished dark veneers ,raw concrete textures and sparks of metallic rose gold ,we managed to fuse elements of “raw” and “modern” to add uniqueness to its regality.
Moving away from the regular whites and beige, this apartment has a beautiful light grey flooring.
An interplay of geometric patterns with warm and soothing textured materials is the key highlight of this home. Neutral tones of grey and browns blend perfectly with the material palette of rose gold, pure wood and mirrors. Accent lights carefully selected and sourced art add eclectic flavor to the scheme.
Each of the bedrooms in this house have a distinct personality. While one has an island bed and a balcony offering sweeping views of the Mumbai skyline, other is a cosy nest done up in warm tones using wood and veneer. Natural materials like wenge oak wood and concrete textures are also used in one of the bedrooms.
Each piece of furniture is customized to size, specifications and details.
ENTRANCE PASSAGE
The narrow entrance passage has large geometric patterned bevelled mirrors which act as a game changer for this narrow long space making the space look double its size. The beautiful crystal rose gold chandelier against the dark wood veneer ceiling adds a charm to the entrance of this home.
LIVING ROOM
The sofa back adorns a beautiful concrete textured wallpaper with thin rose gold metal geometric lines. TV is hung on a rich textured Marble panelling integrated with dark wooden drawers and shutters. The Light, modern and plain coloured furniture compliments the resplendent grey marble flooring.
The open kitchen in the living room backsplashes a dynamic bronze mirror above the platform which reflects the outer view inside adding a lot of debth to the room.
The main challenge of this space was to make it appear as large as possible without cluttering the space too much.
BALCONY
The best feature of the home is the ‘inside out’ balcony experience extending from the living room. The living room opens out to a balcony where you can have a sundowner or simply watch the beautiful sunset. The vibrant blue couch seating on one side with a peaceful Buddha statue backsplashed with natural stone texture and a vertical garden oozes calmness and purity giving this balcony a contemporary feel. The dark wooden louvered ceiling with soft yellow spotlights adds the warmth to the space. The continuity of the material palette blends the deck seamlessly into the indoors, making it a natural extension of the living room.
MASTER BEDROOM
The Master bedroom exudes rich elegant textures in an rose gold – glossy white and grey color palette. All of the elements seamlessly blend to give the bedroom a holistic modern appeal blended with a highlighting metal jail behind the island bed.
COMMON BATHROOM
In continuation of the overall language of the house is the all white satvario tiles common bathroom fashioned with a statement rose-gold metal frame before the shower cubicle and rose-gold bath fittings and fixtures. The cutwork geometric ceiling panel breaks the over simplified look of this bathroom.
SONS BEDROOM
The son’s bedroom emanates a nature-inspired materials touch with the use of a raw jute textured wallpaper on the walls, a bold tufted geometric patterned stone textured fabric headboard and concrete textured wardrobes. The bold black backpainted glass handles and black magical lights over the side tables add a spark to the natural feel of the bedroom.
The attached bathroom has beautiful grey stone textured tiles, green grass above the basin counter and an oak wenge wood ceiling to give a complete nature inspired feel. The natural stone basin, concrete knobs and the geometric black hanging lights all are accessoried in the perfect setting.
SECOND SONS BEDROOM
The second sons room also spaced out well by using a corner bed setting appearing like a cozy brown wrapped cocoon space, freeing up the entire floor space for movement. The onyx backlit bed against the walnut wooden flooring gives a different edge to this bedroom.
Adding shades of warm orange to the niches in the corner tv unit, breaks the monotony of the dark wooden room. A warm cozy and comfortable space ideal for a bachelor bedroom.
The attached bathroom too blends well with the same theme giving a complete walnut wooden look with large mirrors enhancing the space ,and a backlit counter and shower panel.
This apartment is a good blend of contemporary modern design cohesively fused with eclectic elements lending it a wow factor and making a beautiful home for the owners with a variety of spaces to experience.
