    The planning is a careful balance between ideals of Vastu Shastra for this state-of-the-art home and the client’s lifestyle. The northeast zone is open (for landscaping), which not only adds to privacy but also allows bringing in the soft sun of the northeast throughout the day. The design team relinquished “designer’s freedom” as the formulation of the project after looking right from the architectural stages.

    Nothing can quite outshine minimalism when it comes to conceiving a humble yet luxurious space of this Vastu Shastra for Home. This 7200 sq. ft. Bungalow is the brainchild of the designer Dyad Yatin and Jiten of Usine studio. The owner of the residence is a well-reputed entrepreneur in the pharmaceutical industry, housing a family of four.

    Design Planning

    The plan is in L-form around the garden area in a grid pattern so that every space has a glimpse of the landscaping. The spatial hierarchy reflects in the facade through the juxta positioning of volumes giving a playfield for contemporary material treatment such as glass, stone, wooden fins, etc.

    The mammoth challenge was that the design and execution were during the pandemic restrictions. Nevertheless, the project concluded in the time frame of two years due to the Client’s active involvement, back-and-forth discussions, and most essentially client’s trust in the designer’s vision.

    Living Space

    Entering the house greets one by a splendid sculpture by Ashish Das. The placement of sculpture within chiseled exposed brick walls with skylight above was intentional to add drama of textures and sciography.

    Foyer

    The foyer separates the formal drawing room from the informal spaces. The drawing room interiors have muted tones and beautified with remarkable works of art and accessories handpicked keeping in mind design flow.

    The sight of the entire landscape through floor to ceiling windows is nothing less than picturesque.

    Kitchen and Dining

    Every space within, revolves around the double-height family room. The family room acts as a visual connection between all floors. Furthermore, the exquisite staircase aptly placed in the family room acts as a physical connection. The family room, kitchen and dining area bound together by the open plan. The subtleness of the kitchen balances the striking elements in the dining area like the live edge top, vintage lamps and a couplet of abstract art pieces by Siddharth Kerkar.

    Powder Room

    The powder room adds a flare of elegance, with custom-made flooring, complimenting finishes and an outsourced mirror giving an ode to the client’s lifestyle.

    Bedrooms

    Each family member had very specific but extremely differing ideas when it came to their bedrooms, the only common ground being minimalism. The master bedroom serves as a perfect case point for elegant and minimal space, with backdrop and a Persian rug.

    Likewise, the son’s and daughter’s bedrooms are treated in edgy and bohemian styles respectively without deviating from the minimal approach.

    The aesthetics of each bedroom are consciously carried along to the bath and dressing areas. Spaces are treated thoughtfully to satisfy everyone’s needs and yet blend in homogeneously with each other.
