Taking the idea, a step further, a variety of material choices have been consciously made throughout the house in a selection of earthy tones to create the much-needed robust ambiance for grandeur, relaxing and unwinding.
One enters the residence to see a handcrafted wooden sculpture engraved with abstract tribal motifs, which then opens up into a double-height living area.
As the semi-open living room planning brings in plenty of natural light and ventilation, thus the choice of flooring throughout the house allows tones of grey to come to life.
The sloping roof becomes the show stopper for this design, with its rattan ceiling panel complementing the rustic grey geometric pattern flooring.
The wooden furniture pieces add a nice balance to the neutral living room. The amalgamation of these two contrasting yet earthy materials exhibits a sense of serenity and grandeur.
The placement of switch boards throughout the entire house presents an interesting take on the otherwise mundane practice of mounting them on walls. Instead, each switch board is creating an identity with placement on a custom-made wooden trivet.
With an open plan layout, the living room leads into the kitchen and dining area. With two sides being open, the dinning and kitchen area is well ventilated and lit throughout the day.
The outdoor sitting along with the yoga deck is placed on the northern side of the house to retain most of the morning light, with the garden gazebo and pizza kiln in the south, to enjoy breezy night dinners.
The island platform in the kitchen is adorned with handmade Moroccan ceramic tiles and white countertop stone that also aid in breaking the monolithic color tone of the area.
Through the kitchen and dinning area, one approaches the majestic double height stairway, made out of yellow Jaisalmer stone ornamented with an engraved wooden handrail.
The huge opening along the landing, allows ample penetration of light hence illuminating the whole space.
The language of the house is carried into the bathroom through the selection of a similar material palette. Wide opening incorporated in the bathroom help develop a sense of connection with the existing nature outside. The engraved wooden handrail along with the exposed brickwork in each bathroom aid in evolving a luxurious experience.
The house accommodates two bedrooms, both being open from three sides, hence connecting it with the surrounding environment. The tone of both the bedrooms is kept as minimal as possible, though the homely room is given a push with the intricate carpet-like flooring details.
The furniture pieces were designed bearing in mind the low maintenance cost and management, hence the choice of cane and wood.
The character of the bedrooms was developed to display a sense of luxury while providing the needed comfort through the selection of materials and execution of design details.
However, the key feature of the project lies in the concept of developing an inside-outside house that reflects the nature within the built mass and the constructions details in its surrounding environment.
The size and placement of openings support this core idea and assist in developing a visual and physical transparency of spaces
The pockets of informal spaces created via the lush green garden, outdoor dining space, yoga deck or the terrace garden weave the functional spaces into a beautiful harmony.
