The building is designed to evoke an image of the traditional house that draws attractiveness of the location while embodying modern configuration at the same time.
The dynamic configuration, which is composed of the gable roof volume overlapping the shed roof volume, directly forms the internal space profile. The inside is filled with tranquility and openness.
High quality of privacy is maintained throughout the design of the sit out by providing overhanging sloped roof and increased plinth height.
Apart from normal zoning pattern of houses the main requirement of the client was to have a large sit out to accommodate visitors by avoiding guest living room.
His large interest in landscaping gives a way to bring courtyard as a design element and create different patterns at different times inside the house using jalis.
A home is a perfectly blended cocktail where emotions, conversations and activities united with a toping of comfort and relaxation.
Creating gathering spaces in between utility spaces as a bridge. Activity spaces rather than labelled rooms outward looking arrangement of interior spaces connects the nature.
The layout consists of public and private areas separated by a connecting corridor with adjacent open to sky courtyards gives a sense of privacy, light and soothing views to each room.
Courtyard act as a geometry that let out the internal air in to the sky due to the difference of air density between the indoor and outdoor providing smooth cooling effect.
Strategical placed sky light provided on the top of prayer area using jali which produce a constantly shifting show of light and shadows and aesthetic ambience.
Careful placement of jalis in according to the wind direction which allows the filtered air in to the indoor at the same time placement of glass windows on the northern side welcome sunrays.
Double roofing act as a space to cover laundry activities proving a privacy to the space. All plumbing facilities are provided on the top of double height area.
The color palette used is shades of white and wooden texture which gives simple and elegant appearance. As for building materials Mangalore tiles where sourced for roofing and GI square pipes as structural support.
