Three Signs It’s Time To Replace Your Bathroom Tiles
Retiling your bathroom may be a job you’ve been putting off, or perhaps didn’t even realise you need to do, but it is well worth doing for a number of reasons from looking after your health to increasing the resale value of your home.
Here are a few signs that it’s definitely time to bite the bullet and finally get around to replacing the tiles in your bathroom!
Stained tiles
If your tiles have become stained this can be problematic, as often it is very hard to get them clean again. This doesn’t look great, and can really affect the overall appearance of the room. This can not only affect how you feel about the room yourself but could make it more difficult to rent out if you were planning to do so, as the bathroom is one of the most important rooms in a home from a tenant’s point of view.
It is usually easier to simply replace your tiling, particularly if staining has built up. We spoke to London Tile Shop who told us “having your tiling professionally sealed can help to avoid staining in the future and make sure your brand new tiling job still looks fantastic years down the line”.
Discoloured grout
It isn’t only your tiles that can become discoloured and start to look shabby, as the grout can pick up its fair share of stains too. Since grout is porous, it tends to soak up liquids, whether that be in the shower, or the products you use to clean with.
If you notice you have a lot of unpleasant looking spots on your grout it may be time to consider having your bathroom professionally retiled.
Plus these days there are a lot of different kinds of grout available, from colourful to glittery, and you can really incorporate it into the design of the room! Check out this roundup from Houzz for inspiration.
Mould
Possibly the most important reason of all, if you spot signs of mould in your bathroom you should definitely think about retiling as a mouldy bathroom can affect your health, particularly for people who suffer from asthma.
It is obviously unsightly and can have a distinctive odour, so most home owners will try to tackle the problem, however, you may not be aware that cracked tiles may allow mould to get inside and grow leading to a buildup that may not be obvious.
A bathroom is a naturally wet environment, so it can be difficult to prevent mould from growing, but it is important that you make sure you are doing everything you can to keep on top of it.
A newly tiled bathroom will give you peace of mind that mould and mildew will have no place to grow!
We hope this has given you some inspiration to tackle the job of retiling your bathroom! You’d be surprised just how much a fresh tiling job can transform a room you had fallen out of love with!
