A Muted Earthy Colour Palette And Hues of Pop Colour Inducing A Positive Office Environment | ASDA

The space was envisioned to reflect a positive environment with a muted earthy colour palette and hues of pop colour to lift the mood of the employees. The natural filtered light aided in creating a serene work environment. Soft weaved textures add to the simplicity of the whole look. The brief included various functional zones which are shared and jointly occupied by two diverse businesses: such as CEO’s cabin (land development), sales cabin (a common cabin to be shared during client meetings), design studio (architecture and interior works), reception, pantry and washroom. The layout was created such that each zone could function independently with privacy and not look like a pigeonhole.

The aim was to create a modern, minimal and a timeless space. The space has 13’ high ceiling with gorgeous city view outside. The ceiling height was restored by having an open oval duct-able air conditioning system. Slits were designed carefully in the partitions for return air. The ceiling layout was designed to integrate the AC ducts, fire system, electrical lights, WIFI, CCTV etc. Which was finished in natural concrete paint. The partitions and doors were designed to give a seamless look, without revealing the door openings. Hence door handles have been avoided outside the cabins, the interior side however have handles where there is a pull. Large floor to ceiling Burma teakwood framed fluted glass partitions encloses all the cabins. The glass partitions helped in creating privacy and a visual connectivity to the entire space; thereby creating a dynamic space.

The three cabins are connected by the reception and the waiting area. The four feet long reception table is set in rust bronze metal look with concrete bottom. The grey stucco finish wall with grooves depicting scales on the backdrop welcomes the visitors at the entrance. To make the reception area look huge visually, a pixelated brown mirror wall, floor to ceiling is designed. An illusion is created through partial reflections on this surface. The design cabin and pantry share a common wall which is designed in antique brick finish, which is finished in white paint. The worktable is bright caramel colour with a thin circular metal ring as base finished in powder coated grey colour.  This way the table opens up the space for larger collaborations making space for additional seating.

The design cabin also houses a small mezzanine area which is created to have afternoon naps and for resting during long working hours. The pantry with the teal back-splash and the brick wall was designed to be very homely and a clutter-free space. In order to create lightness to the overall space all storage requirements are met at 750mm height. The CEO’s cabin has two-sided view of the city. To filter the air and bring in natural freshness plants have been placed in all the cabins. The use of graphics on the partition walls renders a fresh and vibrant feel to the muted earthy tones of the space. Grey wooden flooring seamlessly ties the entire workspace. The overall use of warm palette manifests timeless and plush feel to the entire office space.
