Inside This Creative Studio in Rajkot Where Design Never Stands Still | Manali Hirani Design Atelier
The designers conceived the workspace as a tabula rasa with a Zen-like sensibility and the freedom to create. Every element encourages adaptability and flexibility. Much like a child rearranging Lego pieces, the space transforms intuitively according to mood, need, or imagination. The in-house furniture reflects this philosophy through its movable and evolving character. Crafted from teakwood, natural textures, and earthy finishes, each piece reimagines the everyday. Each piece shapes the character, function, and atmosphere of the space through the act of moveability.
The excitement lies in this freedom, where every shift and rearrangement invites discovery. Each transformation makes the space feel alive while gently reinventing everyday life. This approach to furniture and interiors reflects the evolving nature of our young practice. We conceived the workspace to adapt and grow alongside our future needs. Attuned to life’s subtleties, the studio extends our design ethos and speaks our language to everyone who enters. A deep devotion to detail shapes every object we meticulously crafted. Together, these elements allow the layout to breathe naturally and honestly, avoiding a sanitized, conventional, or overly curated arrangement.
From the complete refurbishment of two black chairs salvaged from the scrapyards of Alang to the multi-panel foldable partition fashioned with scrupulous attention, every design decision remains deliberate. The partition’s varied openings allow different degrees of separation and invite maximum play within the space, redefining it anew with each use.
The library unit reflects the same precision, featuring a stepped rhythm echoed along its sides and legs, with a checkered veneer pattern on the shutter that complements it. Even something as small as a door handle bears fastidious detail, where a solid wood block expertly conceals the niche that allows it to be opened. Nothing feels excessive, and yet each detail has undergone exhaustive consideration.
This project is grounded in the belief that the smallest, most subtle details hold the power to shape an entire environment. Guided by these nuanced influences, the design approach emphasizes quiet refinement and depth. The Workspace, with its ever-responsive design, becomes a memoir of the relationship between humans and their surroundings—always open to diverse interpretations and shifting perspectives—allowing the space to be read—and lived—differently each time.
