The K2 Learning Center Is A Masterclass In The Use of Colour In Design | M.AD Studio

One of our marquee projects, K2 Learning center is spread across 3 storeys and had a combined area of 12,000 sq. ft. for us to play in. As for the brief, the clients were very clear about their requirement – a space that transcends mere function and aesthetic, one that nourishes the daily user.

We adopted a playful and young style for the interiors – energetic colours, free forms and plenty of landscape became the foundation for this project. We provided multiple “break-out” spaces, a free path for movement across the floors, and a lot of elements of interest. Certain spaces that truly stand out for us are the library, the lounge areas, the gazebo and the cabins.

Custom reception table

Across the muted canvas of the floor, walls and ceiling, we brought in character through soft colours, graceful form and plenty of green. The custom reception table takes centre stage, right upon entrance. The simple couches and nesting tables are frames by the metal partitions and across, we put up an individual armchair which was paired with the curved backdrop.

We coupled this neat, suspended stairway with some grounding landscape to create a space that’s a treat to the on-lookers.

The Library & Step Seating

Lush greens and the soft gush of water bring in tranquillity in the library of the Learning center. Calm tones for furnishings, soft white step-seating and furniture in a beautiful, cool shade of veneer characterise this space. We utilised the large view for the seating space to complete the space.

Experimenting with forms and curves, we put together this fun-shaped seater by the full-height glazing. Additionally, we also incorporated this stylish counter-cum-seater. We truly found ourselves experimenting with the elements of this space.

Cabins

For these cabins of the Learning center, we maintained a very muted theme and let the marble backdrops do the talking. Spiritual in nature, we brought in a unique sense of peace to each of the space that truly completed it.

We also incorporated elements such as the coffered ceiling, and the beautiful veneer for the furniture and ceiling that Ɵe the space together.

For the office area, we used subtle hues and clean lines, challenging the usual, boring idea of what corporate looks like. While the neat glass partitions bring stability to the space, the console totally challenges it.

With an open view of the sky, framed with greenery – we opted for a very cool colour scheme for this area while the floor brought in some jazz and moƟon. We incorporated a lot of fun pieces such as the console and the seating itself.

On the terrace floor, we made sure to make the space light and airy, with raw textures and cool colours. Fun Moroccan tiles along with the rawness of the furniture, complimented by the subtle yet bold planter – the space comes together in a truly wholesome manner.
