Across Horizon is a modern apartment designed as a calm yet expressive retreat above the city. Located on a higher floor, the home is conceived around openness, visual continuity, and a strong connection to the urban skyline. The design explores how contemporary interiors can remain warm, personal, and functional while embracing expansive views and modern living requirements.
A Modern Apartment That Is Designed In A Calm And Expressive Style | Studio Across
The planning of the modern apartment prioritises fluidity and openness. The foyer opens directly into the living and dining space, creating a gradual reveal that culminates in uninterrupted city views. This entry sequence establishes the core idea of the project—spaces that flow seamlessly into one another while maintaining a composed and uncluttered aesthetic.
A soft modern palette of warm neutrals, subtle textures, and clean lines forms the base language of the home, allowing light and views to become integral design elements.
The designers create the living and dining areas as a single, cohesive volume and connect them visually to the balcony beyond. Rather than treating the balcony as a separate element, the interiors extend outward through aligned sightlines, restrained detailing, and consistent material choices.
The designers carefully position the TV unit, dining area, and balcony to reinforce this continuity, creating a fluid relationship between indoor living and the outdoor cityscape. At night, layered lighting transforms the space into a warm and intimate setting, offering a sense of comfort without compromising its contemporary character.
One of the key challenges of the project was accommodating diverse spatial needs within a compact 3BHK layout while working within a strictly defined budget. The clients desired a modern home that would feel distinctive, yet practical and comfortable for long-term living.
The designers achieved this balance through thoughtful space planning, multifunctional zones, and a restrained approach to materials and finishes. Instead of relying on decorative excess, the design emphasises proportion, detailing, and spatial clarity.
The designers seamlessly integrate a minimal pooja area into the apartment, featuring a simple plane backdrop and a single circular metal element that forms the spiritual focal point. This restrained approach allows the space to remain calm and meaningful while complementing the modern language of the home.
The guest room is designed as a versatile space that functions as a study, entertainment room, and occasional bedroom. European-inspired MDF framing, matte beige acrylic finishes, and black-and-gold metal accents give the room a refined character, while a sofa-cum-bed and integrated study setup ensure functionality. Personal details, such as a framed guitar display within the study area, add an individual and expressive layer to the space.
The son’s bedroom introduces a more playful and energetic expression within the home. Bold colour accents, dramatic bed-back detailing, and contemporary forms reflect his vibrant personality and interest in music. While the room stands out visually, it remains connected to the overall design language through controlled materials and a modern aesthetic.
In contrast, the designers conceive the parents’ bedroom as a quieter, more rooted space. Drawing from their Suthar heritage, the room incorporates warm wooden textures and subtle traditional references that honour craftsmanship, values, and identity.
The designers thoughtfully balance these elements with clean lines and contemporary detailing. Thus, creating a bedroom that embraces nostalgia while remaining timeless.
Across Horizon is a reflection of thoughtful modern apartment living. Here, individuality is celebrated within a cohesive design framework. Comfort, clarity, and character come together to create a home that feels elevated, personal, and enduring.
