With wabi-sabi interiors, this home balances aesthetics and functionality. The space came with several architectural challenges, including protruding columns and beams that disrupted the visual harmony. Our design approach focused on seamlessly integrating these anomalies, turning them into intentional features rather than eyesores. We curated a palette of muted, neutral tones complemented by warm, earthy hues to create a sense of calm and cohesion. Carefully chosen accent colours were layered in to add depth and subtle pops of interest, bringing the entire space to life while maintaining a balanced and inviting atmosphere.

This living room embodies a refined Japandi aesthetic, blending the minimalism of Japanese design with the warmth of Scandinavian style. The space features clean lines, a muted earthy palette, and natural textures that evoke calm and simplicity.
Exposed wooden ceiling beams and arched openings create architectural interest while maintaining softness and flow. Customised furniture, like the raw wood wall-mounted console and sculptural nesting tables, reflects a wabi-sabi interiors with an appreciation of natural materials and craftsmanship.
The highlight is the elegant wooden swing suspended with black ropes, a contemporary take on a traditional element that adds both function and serenity to the space. The organic rug, soft textiles, and curated decor enhance the tranquil, balanced atmosphere.
The customized dining table features a sculptural base with soft, curved edges that echo the architectural language seen throughout the home, creating visual continuity and a calm rhythm. The chairs, a mix of muted neutrals and textured green upholstery, add an earthy vibrance while maintaining a balanced, natural palette.
Organic materials and finishes, such as the wood grain on the table and the rattan pendant lights overhead, enhance the handcrafted aesthetic. The subtle touch of green acts as a quiet statement, infusing the space with freshness and visual interest without disrupting its serene tone.
The kitchen follows the same calm Japandi design language, using a minimal palette of warm oak tones and crisp whites. This simple yet thoughtful combination keeps the space feeling bright, open, and cohesive with the rest of the home.
The natural wood adds warmth and texture, while the white surfaces enhance light and maintain a clean, uncluttered aesthetic.
The master bedroom continues the home’s cohesive design narrative with a curved wall panel that seamlessly flows into the dual-tone wardrobe, reinforcing the soft, organic Japandi aesthetic.
Custom solid wood handles, finished in paint, lend a handcrafted, personal touch. A woven headboard adds texture and warmth to the solid wood bed, while the wave-detail drawers on the side tables subtly echo the fluid lines found throughout the space, enhancing its serene and tactile appeal.
This is the eldest daughter’s bedroom, designed with a playful yet grounded aesthetic. Texture paint on the walls and ceiling adds depth and character, while the solid wood bed anchors the space with warmth.
The wardrobe features cane-sandwiched shutters that blend craftsmanship with lightness. A charming study nook is completed with a custom-made chair and a dual-tone pendant light.
The standout element is the eye-catching, sculptural legs of the study table, custom-crafted on site to bring a distinctive design flair to the space.
The younger daughter’s room features a space-efficient platform bed that keeps the layout open and functional. A curved wall panel flowing upwards seamlessly integrates a mirror, which has its top edge echoing the same gentle curve as the panel for a cohesive look.
Instead of concealing the protruding column and beam near the study area with bulky panelling, the design embraces these architectural quirks, softening them with curved forms that blend beautifully into the overall aesthetic, staying true to the home’s theme of thoughtful minimalism.
The home initially had multiple column projections and felt dull, lacking a distinct character. But with clients who were incredibly supportive and open-minded, we had the freedom to experiment and bring our vision to life. Their trust in our process allowed us to transform the space into something truly special, full of warmth, personality, and thoughtful design!
