Subtle Textures And Clean Lines Enhance This Small Office Interiors | Seeking Roots

The client brief was simple, yet required flawless execution with respect to 250 sq.ft floor space available for small office interiors. The compact office contains a reception area, an open workstation for up to 3 employees, a tucked-in pantry and a private Director’s cabin. While the reception and employee workspace are rendered in crisp whites with textures of veneer, the private cabin boasts of a lush green backdrop behind a fluted glass screen. Apart from an aesthetic upgrade, an efficient workflow for the office was also worked out, which included a visual partition, low-maintenance work surfaces and subtle tones.

From the outset, the designer chose to make maximum use of natural light and the open frontage, by creating an entrance wall of frosted glass on a metal frame. The interior design was conceptualized as an effective response to the space, and brought alive by the additions of colourful murals, rhythmic fluted glass and an astute metal grid. Subtle vertical lines play an important role in the space, while horizontal lines, expressed through metal grids or the inherent structural geometry, create a sense of expansiveness. The legs of sofas, tables, and other heavier furniture remain slender and open, providing a sense of lightness to the small office.

Frontage (Office Entrance)

The translucent frontage with the company logo incorporates playful typography, relating to the Periodic table of chemical elements. This ingenious design idea instantly makes a connection to the pharma company’s identity– acting as a signboard as well as a design element.

Reception

The designer places a warm brown seat with a grooved back thoughtfully in the compact reception area. Moreover, it echoes the vertical lines of the metal strip partition behind it. Across that, the sleek reception table features a PU tabletop and a vertical board in muted beige. As a result, it seamlessly blends efficiency with utility.

Employee Area

The common employee work surface features a wood-textured veneer, set against a light pastel green backdrop. The vertical storage cabinets in PU are examples of compact, clean and fuss free design inserts. The full-length, floor-to-ceiling fluted glass screen for the private cabin complements the subtle use of lines. Additionally, it brings a soft, translucent glow to the space.

Pantry Area

Echoing the forms of pharmaceutical capsules, a vibrant mural adorns the silent door concealing the pantry and toilet. As a result, it adds a sense of lushness to the space. Cheerful fresh greens pepper the office.

Private Cabin

The private cabin combines the best of classic and modern elements in its design. A deep green wall with panel moldings and a framed iconic photograph of the Bosphorus, the hub of trading, sets a striking tone. As a result, it becomes the perfect backdrop to showcase legacy and affluence in the business of trading.
