Nestled in the historic heart of Raigarh, Resham is a celebration of heritage style reimagined. Aara Interiors, under the vision of designer Vidhi Sawadia, has masterfully transformed a 75-year-old ancestral home into a sophisticated textile studio that breathes contemporary functionality while honoring India’s textile legacy. Drawing inspiration from the ethereal elegance of Tassar silk, the studio seamlessly marries tradition with modern design sensibilities.
This Heritage Style Textile Studio Breathes New Life Into A 75-year-old Home | Aaraa Interiors
Resham pays homage to the rich tapestry of India’s craftsmanship while offering a thoughtfully curated workspace for textile creation. In a structural feat, the studio eliminates beams and columns, creating a fluid, uninterrupted layout that feels both airy and intentional. Compact space planning adheres to the form follows function principle, ensuring that every inch serves a distinct purpose without compromising aesthetics.
At the heart of this transformation lies an evocative blend of old and new. Vintage carved wooden doors, painstakingly preserved from the original home, stand as poetic reminders of the past. Paired with intricately carved elements and vintage mirrors, these features anchor the space in its history, offering a narrative that unfolds room by room.
Tassar silk—celebrated for its earthy texture, subtle sheen, and luxurious simplicity—inspired the studio’s material palette. The muted elegance of natural tones and textures mirrors the tactile richness of silk, evoking a sense of understated opulence. Walls, surfaces, and finishes have been curated to reflect the silk’s timeless charm, creating a serene environment where creativity flows effortlessly.
Despite its compact footprint, Resham exudes a sense of luxury. Carpet flooring introduces warmth and softness underfoot, while carefully planned zones balance utility and artistry. Workstations and creative hubs flow seamlessly, aided by the column-free structure that enhances spatial clarity. Additionally, vintage accents punctuate the interiors, elevating functionality into a design statement.
Every detail is intentional: carved doors lead to moments of discovery, vintage mirrors reflect fragments of history. Additionally, the raw tactility of materials invites touch. However, this juxtaposition of heritage elements and modern spatial flow positions Resham as more than just a studio—it becomes an experience.
The essence of Indian textiles permeates the space’s design language. From textural finishes inspired by handwoven silk to ornate carved features, Resham redefines luxury through cultural authenticity. The 75-year-old carved doors, imbued with stories of generations past, now serve as both functional and artistic centerpieces, bridging tradition with contemporary vision.
Resham, located in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, stands as a luminous example of thoughtful design and cultural storytelling. Aara Interiors – Vidhi Sawadia have redefined a 75-year-old home into a refined textile studio where legacy and innovation converge. With inspiration drawn from Tassar silk and a focus on seamless functionality, Resham is a sanctuary of creativity—a space where history breathes new life, tradition meets evolution, and every detail resonates with timeless artistry.
