This Nordic style interior demonstrates, how to live big in a small house. Given the brief to include a fireplace in the living room, it excited us but looking at the compact space, we took this as a head-on challenge. Introducing a breakfast table and opening up the kitchen to all its glory was one of the many challenges. Inspired by the confluence of Nordic and Scandinavian Interior styles, ‘Project UnDyed’ crafted by founder, Sheetal Agrawal of The Canvas Project, was commanded to deliver a home that demonstrates, how to live big in a small house.
Editor’s Note: “Inspired by Nordic and Scandinavian design, this Pune abode radiates a calming ambience. The soft blend of white and wood exudes comforting minimalism, while thoughtfully curated furnishings add character to the muted palette. Every corner breathes fresh air, showcasing impeccable craftsmanship.” ~Simran Khare
The Canvas Project
Enchantment lies in the colour scheme. White is the hero and it is married with its many variants thereby creating a calmness to this dimensional space.
Starting with living room which sets the tone of the house wherein we have carefully chosen the colour palette of white to give it much needed warmth.
The fireplace infuses energy into the space and, as the focal point, is beautifully positioned between the two storage units.
There is good reason that leather sofa is so handsome yet inviting and the colour gives it that unexpected pop. We can call it as a stalwart of the living room and to abate we went ahead with beige accent chairs.
With that tone, your eyes catch the kitchen, brought to life by the muted color palette and fine craftsmanship, blooming in its full glory.
To add some character we introduced a partition in fluted glass with a touch of black frame and that multipurpose breakfast table serves as a perfect place to behold that Kitchen.
Moving on to Kids Room, which we specifically crafted for the clients toddler daughter and hence we opted for a Nursery theme, where in the kid should enjoy and with a toy unit, Study corner, bed, wardrobe, bookshelf the room was a complete unit and with a strong planning we added that breathing space as well (for kids get together, yeah that’s new to us as well).
At the end, there comes the master bedroom which is all about coherence of space with a neutral white theme. It was designed to introduce warmth, romance and softness to the space.
The headboard adds a layer and texture to the room featured in a bold tan leather perfectly complemented the all white wardrobe, and the beautifully crafted bed.
The material palette consists of Veneer, PU, colour body tile, Quartz in the kitchen and customized wallpapers in the kids’ room. Natural light and fresh air fill every corner of the house. Light, harmonious, and perfectly balanced – the style informs the colour palette and material scheme.
The design process was very simple to start with. The client’s clear and precise thought process made the project seamless. They laid out their requirements and trusted the team, making the design phase feel effortless. Designing involves creating a bright, clean, and cosy living space that emphasizes simplicity, functionality, and natural elements.
During the first site visit, the first thought that lurked in our mind was to implement a languorous warmth, which we tactfully did by opting for a neutral palette. Thus, encrusting a bevy of interesting textures made from a variety of materials.
